Pixie was fine last night at bedtime. PMBG was 99.
He woke up to eat during the night, but didn't eat anything.
This am wouldn't even come off the couch to eat. Brought him to his food and he is limping on his back
left leg.
His BG is 220.
167 @ 2.5

It has been 11 days since the Convenia injection.
Although I have tried, I have been unsuccessful at getting the Baytril tabs into him.
This seemed to come on suddenly overnight.
I will link his last condos about his infection....
Any thoughts? I am at a loss.

Maybe J.D. is easy to pill, but he won't eat the pill pockets, I just wrap the pill in the pill pocket and put it at the back of his throat and he swallows it. Have you tried that?
I think they should take the ABs with food in the stomach, so sending eating vines to Pixie, first, and followed by feel much better vines.

Pilling Pixie is not a good option. Not if I want it all in him.

Can he get another antibiotic at this point?
A different injection?
Been reading about Convenia and the risks....plus I think if it didn't do the trick it may be time to try a different one.

We have been up for 2hrs. now and he ate 1/2 jar baby food. He is laying on the couch preening and grooming.
Just got off and went to lay in a quiet spot now that we are all awake.

You can get some ABs in liquid form. Would you be able to administer a squirt of liquid ABs from an eye dropper like thing (or a needeless syringe) into the side of this mouth? Just a thought.

I hope you work something out and he eats better, and his limping is improving as we speak.

Could neuropathy be a possibility here?
He is OTJ...has been since 9/11/13.
I was just watching him walk and although he is more favoring his left leg, he is kinda
walking weird, a bit crouched at his back end.
When he was first dx with diabetes he had 1 day where he was limping (3 days after start of Lantus)
then was fine the next day.

I don't know where to go from here....re-check his white count and see if it decreased? Was 47,000 last time and neutrophils were high.
(Vet said infection....but don't know where)
If it did decrease, I should assume that his BG spike is not related to the infection and the AB is working still.
Thoughts appreciated.....

Sending tons of prayers. I hope your vetty can figure out what is going on with sweet little Pixie. Please keep us posted!

Healing vines for Pixie ~ Hope you are able to figure out what is wrong.

I usually get a liquid AB for Cleo, she is very hard to pill.

Piling on some healing vines for Pixie. Can you feel any lumps in that bum leg? Maybe up in the inner thigh? I hope you can figure out what's wrong and get Pixie back to good health.

I really, really, hope it isn't this; limping and high white count is raising my index of suspicion for a bone cancer. It happened to our Pepper (GA).

Hi Lauri,

Does Pixie take Methyl B12? He should if you suspect neuropathy. It helps a lot in most cases. Racci has a bad limp and I can tell the difference when she doesn't take it! Racci's bg can get higher just from constipation or a bad pain day so I imagine Pixie's could also. I agree that a vet visit is in order though just to rule out pancreaitis or anything else.

I try to get Racci liquid meds all the time and give it by syringe. She's a terrible pill taker and winds up giving herself an asthma attack! Racci has also been a little upset since our kitten joined the family. She still has days once in a while when her bg is high and she's quite nasty to him. I don't know if he annoyed her first those days or if she just didn't want him around. He does annoy her a lot trying to get her attention. He worships her.

I sure hope the beautiful little boy feels better soon & it turns out to be nothing serious.

Hugs,
Melanie and Racci & Benji too!

Well, I am so sorry to not have posted yesterday....however I had 2 minutes between coming home from work (early)
and grabbing Pix and heading to the vet. I did make sure I read all your posts in those 2 minutes.

First of all, thank you so much for all your kind thoughts. Even if you had no idea of what could be going on you
were kind enough to post.

With that said, Pix was about the same last night. However he did eat. Yeah!!
Dr. suspects round 2 of AB will help. So that's what we are doing for now.

If this seems to work we will re-do blood work and see what's up. If not, back we go.

Happy to say that Pix greeted me this am....ate all his food...and had a BG of 83....not seeing
too much limping either.

Glad to hear Pixie is feeling a bit better and eating.
Sending more appy and feel better ♥vines♥ to Pixie.
