Not even ready to be back. No Lantus on hand....

Vet told me on Tuesday that Tom may only have DAYS left. See post on health.
In a last ditch effort, we are giving him anything he's willing to eat (yep, even dry) and started Pred last evening. He received his 2nd dose this morning.
He get subqs everyday now too.

Tested him just now and off the charts. We're back. I was so upset about it all I should have asked for a script at the same time as the pred but didn't....
Called vet to get it called in to pharmacy asap. It's Thanksgiving but hopefully they'll be able to get it in.

On the positive side, Tom is looking great for a kitty that was supposed to only have days left :? Eating, just went outside on his new leash for a walk and rolled in the dust.

Sonia, what do you need the script for? You need a meter and strips and syringes? I have extras and am close to you.
Just let me know.

I need all of that - noticed that the strips I have are expired. Need a new meter too. Planning on getting all that at the pharmacy but I need a script for the insulin.

You don't need a script for insulin or any of the stuff you need.

I have a meter and strips you can use if you like, and also some syringes,
Just go to Shoppers and get the insulin; no script needed.

Really? Off I go then. I'll test him with the new meter and strips when I get back, then I'll need advice on dose.
Thinking starting very low until I get more data.

Sure! You don't need any script for insulins or meters or strips or syringes, nothing!
Tell them at shoppers you want to try a new meter and you get it FREE with the purchase of 100 strips.

They said they didn't have one free with purchase of strips. Will look online for coupon and go back
Got the Lantus and syringes. Won't give him any until about 6:30pm anyway if I want to get on a schedule that works.

ETA: Got the coupon. Will go back out in a bit.

I am glad to hear that he is still feeling well. I hope the pred works out well for him. Bear Man used to do well on pred. I always gave the pred and the insulin at the same time. It seemed to work out for us that the pred was bringing BG's up at the same time the insulin was bringing them down. I gave it once daily, but others have had a more even effect on BG's with splitting it into two doses as you are.

I don't have experience in this, but others have found that the sub Q fluids bring numbers down, and they are able to time the fluids to take advantage of this effect.

I am wishing both of you well.
