First I wanted to thank everyone for all the guidance in the stickies it has made a world of difference.

Just wondering everyone's opionion if Motor is ready to try the OTJ trial.

Here is Motor's Sheet. He is a ~13lb 12yr old cat. On Lantus.

Thanks again,

You've decreased pretty quickly(but it's possible!)

We usually suggest dropping the dose and then holding it for 7 days......if the numbers are still normal (mostly below 100), then you drop it again and hold for another 7 days......all the way down until you're only giving a drop of insulin

We don't like to "rush" reductions .....we want a strong remission, not necessarily a fast one!! The more time you can keep them safely on insulin to give the pancreas time to heal, the better!

I agree with Chris. We like to see seven days with all green numbers first. A reduction hasn't been earned yet, unless you're doing SLGS. I'd go the full seven days at this dose. If Motor lets you know before then that less insulin is needed by dropping below 50, try going down to one drop for seven days before stopping completely. As Chris said, the longer you can support the pancreas, the better chance you have for a strong remission.

I suspect we'll be revisiting this question soon!
:D

I'd be curious to see more numbers during the day or in the evening. Are you able to get more tests in, do you think? I know it can be hard depending on your work hours. :-)

Thanks for the responses. Ill stick with the 0.1U for 7 days then try the Drop. Getting more tests during the day isn't really possible but I will try to get more during the night.

Thanks again,
