Greetings from CurryLand.

All is well here. Curry's numbers continue to flucutate a bit w/her asthma. They stay around 67-115. Right now the pollen count is a bit high so I'm assuming her higher numbers are related. They do go down after eating.

Sid is continues to learn the pet door trick. I have the door ajar a bit so Sid can "see" that its open. She hasnt learned to butt her head against it to open it. Curry tried to learn it and got stuck. Looked like she was doing the Hokey Pokey....She was stuck midway with her legs hanging out....First right leg shake and then the left leg shake. She hasn't tried the pet door anymore. Sid seemed to enjoy the fact that she could eat her food w/o Curry coming around.

Well, a feral kitten approximately 6 - 7 weeks old (?????) appeared Wed. evening next to my living room window. Could hear it but couldn't see it. Friday morning I saw it and fed it some food. Fed it last night too. Decided to capture it this morning since I could sit on the stairs next to it while it ate in the bushes. Tried once to snag it and it ran....but it was hungry and came back.

Snagged it this morning. Yup, it's wild. Put it in a crate covered w/towels on my patio. Of course the little thing is crying loudly.....and I have cardboard up so Curry/Sid can't see it. Don't want to have feline aggression issues again. I'm going to try and see if one of the no kill shelters would take it in....it needs socializing and I won't be able to do it w/Curry around.

off to take care of the the kitty and see if I can find it a good home or someone who can help socialize it.

Hi Tena, congratulations to you and Curry on 3 months OTJ. It's so nice to hear from you on how both Curry and Sid are doing these days. So funny with Curry and the pet door. How nice that you were able to feed and capture the feral kitty. That lucky kitty has a great chance of being socialized and adopted at this early age, because of you. Hugs.

Congratulations Curry! But I had to laugh at getting caught in the pet door. Oh I wish you had a photo of THAT! LOLOLOLOL!!!

Good luck with the little feral kitten.

Congratulations on 3 months OTJ. Poor Curry getting stuck in the pet door....that must have been something to see!  Nice on catching the kitty.......you just gave the little one the best chance at a long and happy life.

 the image in my head is of winnie the pooh stuck in rabbit's door . . . you did get a picture, didn't you? that would be one of those priceless moments! poor curry - a dignity-less moment!

yay on catching the little one. i hope you can find someone to take her in. feral kitties are just about the saddest thing - they are so afraid.

congrats on the 3 months OTJ! wow! that's so awesome. but of course, we miss you and appreciate it when you pop in here and there, tena! good to see you!!!!

There may be a feral rescue/trapping group that can assist also.

Henry learned to use the door by closing him in the room. When he wanted out he figured it out right away. He's not as smart as Sid either.

Glad to hear Curry is doing so well!! Glad to hear the pet door is serving its purpose, though poor Curry!!   Good luck with the kitten!!

Here's a blurry pic I snagged of the kitten w/my iphone. Not the best.

He/she will let me stroke its backside w/o hissing. Its still pretty scared.

So its getting ready to rain so I need to get something plastic to put over the crate to kept the kitty from getting wet. I would bring it inside but Miss Curry would have a fit.

Then I'm going to Petco to talk to the folks from HOPE to see if one of their folks would be intersted in fostering this kitten.

Called the SPCA....they said he/she has to be at least 2 lbs (about 11-12 weeks) and social before they will take it.

The kitten is adorable. Good luck with HOPE - I love the name, and pray they take her or him. Very lucky kitty to have you rescue and get involved. Maggie was a feral; I'm sure I've told you They sure can be socialized.

Good luck with the kitten! About 3 weeks ago I stole 2 of a litter of 3 ferals from a momma outside. They were 4-5 weeks when I stole them and they were tame and social within about 3 days. But I did pay them LOTS of attention. Good luck with him!

And Congrats on Curry's OTJ. Each OTJ kitty gives me inspiration!

Great report for Curry. She's so funny about the pet door.....

I sure miss Sid and Curry stories but glad Curry is doing well. I hope you are, too, Tena.

How wonderful that you got the kitten. I will cross my fingers that HOPE takes him/her.

Hugs....we miss you.

Update on ferrel kitty.

So the adoption organization won't take the kitty. Grrrrrrr. Totally understand though. They are inundated with the furbabies themselves. They recommended catch, fix and release. But need to get the kitty's weight up to 2 lbs. He/she is 1 lb 9 oz....and that is with about 3 oz of food in her today. She is a hoover kitty. So she is around 1lb 6 oz. I was told that they typically will gain 4 oz per week.

My neighbor offered to let the kitty stay in her bathroom and I can supply all the food and such. That way my two kitties won't go nuts again when they hear it cry and then the neighbor can begin to work on socializing it. Bringing it indoors seemed to help calm it down. Hopefully we can get the kitty socialized and ready to go to a good family.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear Hope can't take kitty, but how nice of your neighbor to offer and take her. That 's the silver lining for kitty. Maybe your neighbor will get attached and adopt her, if it's an option depending on her situation. She sure has a great chance of being socialized by your neighbor and with kitty being so young, too. Keep us updated when you can. Hugs to you.

A young kitten has the best chances of being socialized. Beware of fleas and get the kit to a vet for a full check-up as well. It has already missed the first and second round of initial vaccines. HOPE may be able to recommend a discounted vet service. I know many of our shelters will supply coupons etc. to help out.

Happy 3 month Annifursay! So happy that Curry continues to do well. Wonderful of you to catch the kitten and how sweet of your neighbor to offer housing. I'm sure this little guy will find a happy and loving home because of you.

Congrats to Curry...I can't believe it's already been 3 months!

It is sooo wonderful that you caught the kitten, and that your neighbor is willing to help out. Maybe a couple options: one is contacting Alley Cat Allies. They work with ferals, and maybe they can connect you with someone local.

Another is to contact a local rescue to see if they'll do a "courtesy listing" on PetFinder for you, if you (or your neighbor) do the fostering. That's what we did with Trix. Long story short, she was abandoned by our former neighbors. We contacted the rescue group we got our other cats from, but they were full to the gills, However, they said they'd work to find a home for her, as long as we fostered. We agreed...however, obviously, we were never able to give her up.

"Your" kitten is adorable. Good luck with her!!
