Mornin' :coffee:

Last I posted we were going to Acupuncture. We went and while at the vet it was a great success but the car ride home turned out to be just like the others, pukus and poopus. I canceled Acupuncture going forward. It defeats the whole purpose in my mind. The gabapentin didn't work for Beenie and house calls are $100 on top of the regular charge. So needless to say I was extremely disappointed that as good as she was during the treatment I can't get her to the treatments successfully:(

While there they took full body xray but couldn't get the head in. Everything looked normal, some arthritis but nothing out of the ordinary for a 12 yr old cat. Heart and lungs looked good.

Beenie's eyes are back to being pretty runny/gooey again. I'm starting to see a little color to it, more yellowish this time. We've already been through two rounds of AB so whatever it is AB aren't working.

I'm going to order the CBD oil and see if that helps her a little and makes her more comfortable. Otherwise I'm out of ideas to help her feel a little better and not break the bank doing so.

Her numbers are all over the place lately too. I know its not worth trying to understand "why" but its all been a bit frustrating lately.

Hope I haven't too much of a debbie downer:rolleyes:. We'll keep plugging along:)

Chin scritches to all the kitties and healing vines to all that are in need.

I sure wish I had a solution for you on the car ride issues :(, I had been hopeful that the acupuncture might provide Beenie with some relief. But at least the x-rays were good! Is her breathing ok now? No coughing? Beenie knows how to get back to the beach, she just needs a little time to settle in, and no, you are never a Debbie-downer, we all get a bit discouraged, and you are always one of the first to send a supportive message :bighug::)

I want to try acupuncture with Gizmo but have similar issue. The vet visit stress him out soooo bad that I fear it would be counter productive. Wish I could find someone to come to the house but have no idea how to even start looking.

I wonder if Cerenia before you left for the vet would help with the car rides?

Glad xrays were unremarkable! Good news.

Good news on the X-ray front!

Have you thought about transitioning to a raw food diet? I believe switching Jimmy from commercial wet to raw has let him be as healthy as he is despite the Acro. It doesn’t have to be a chore. I use EZ complete...add ground boneless meat to a mix, add water. That’s it. It has all the enzymes and supplements our kitties need...including green-lipped mussels which provide a combination of anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory omega 3s, and are rich in glucosamine and chondroitin, important in joint health.

As for the CBD, there are a lot of brands out there but the one that is showing good results is Charlottes Web everyday plus (olive oil). Not the PAWS formula (it has MCT oil/coconut oil - ok for dogs but not so great for cats).

Head bumps to Beenie. Having an Acro cat, I’m learning is like playing the game of chutes and ladders.

Poor Bernie, and poor you! I've never heard of a cat that's so physically distressed by car travel. I wonder if trying to slowly desensitise her would even be possible...?

Glad there's no asthma and that the arthritis isn't too bad! :):bighug:

Think I'm going to try that. Super short car ride each time, treats, no vet. We'll see.
She's never liked being held. Its like she hates being confined. Maybe that's part of what makes her so unsettled. Its really nuts. It could very well be that she gets really bad motion sickness but then I would think there must be another med I could try. The vet who we went to see for the Acupuncture didn't want her too loopy for the treatment but maybe she needs just little something "stronger". I'll try to keep at this and find another solution/way. I need to be able to transport her because she's going to need more trips to the vet than an average pet. My vet offered to come to the house when needed but there will times when she'll need diagnostic equipment that can't be brought to the house. So house calls will help with certain vet visits but not all. I would really like to get her to Acupuncture. I'm on a mission now.

Thanks:bighug:

Thanks!! DH heard her cough once this morning. Haven't heard anything since. Seems to occur first thing in the morning. Other than that her breathing is good so that's a relief. Head bumps to Mav:cat:

Thanks! I would consider a raw diet down the road. My biggest concern is my civvies. They don't take well to food changes so I'll try the CBD oil first and see how that goes. I'm going to try and find a work-around on car rides. I really want to get her to acupuncture. I will try quick car rides, treat, and no vet and little by little it will be a longer car ride. Its worth a shot:)

What is Cerenia for? I've sent it mentioned but I don't recall what it is exactly.
Cerenia is used to treat vomiting in cats and dogs. It is commonly prescribed for motion sickness. My civvie Sasha got sick every time we put her in the car - sometimes before we even left the driveway. I learned not to feed her for at least two hours before and to give her the Cerenia two hours before leaving, and she stopped throwing up. I think if you could try that, and the short car rides to teach her there is nothing to be afraid of, you might make it easier for both of you.

We had an acupuncture vet that would come to your house. Unfortunately, we lived outsider her 50 mile radius, so I took Minka to our vet and she met us there. Ask your vet if she knows of one - that's how we found ours.

Thanks. Do you think it would help to stop her from pooping in the carrier? I know defecation is also a symptom of motion sickness and that is the biggest problem. I will ask the vet about it and try the short car rides and hope we can build up to the 20 min ride to and from the vet.

The Acupuncture vet would do house calls but for a fee based on miles. It would be $100 on top of the acupuncture treatment. So its too much money otherwise I would do it in a heart beat.;)

It might. IDK. Is it messy poo? Gizmo does it sometimes too but it is always a solid and ALWAYS on the way home. I have wondered if it is the temp taking and physical exam that stimulates him to "go" - maybe ask if he can use a LB before you leave the vets or have a disposable pan in the car and give him 10-15 min to relieve himself before you hit the road?
Ok Beenie anytime you want to rise a little more
Great cycle - actually! :D
ETA -oops, just looked at the SS! lime green no good. Reducie??

Ok we are less than 30 min from AMPS and she is still dropping. Just got a 56 at +11.5. She went down from +11

I should re-test in 15 min or should I steer??
