Georgia and Simon (GA)

Member Since 2010
I have been MIA the last few days due to work and just plain exhaustion. Simon has been all over the place with his numbers and also having some lb behavior issues. I've noticed that his bg is higher when I feed him the natural balance limited ingredients duck and venison food, but his ear scratching is alot less. Obviously, his ear scratching is probably due to food allergies. The problem is that I don't want his bg to go higher with the food that doesn't make his ear scratch. What do I do?

I have to tell you about a funny incident that happened because of Simon hating the new littler. I have been trying Worlds Greatest Cat Litter and Cleo has no problem with it. I didn't think Simon did either, until I found out that almost every day he is defecating on my rug in the living room. I cleaned it and then put some paper towels over the spot. Yesterday, I kept smelling poop in that area but didn't see anything and the paper towels were still in place. I decided to pick up the paper towels and underneath the towels, was the poop. Simon had moved the paper towels, pooped, and then pushed the towels back over his poop to cover the evidence. Very creative and smart thinking Kitty. Too bad the smell of his poop gave him away! Needless to say, I went back to using his old litter. When I showed him his litter box with his favorite litter, he immediately stepped into it and started peeing.

Sorry this is a pooping and peeing condo!

Happy Friday!!!!

  Oh how funny with the paper towel and covering up the poop! Simon didn't think you would look under the paper towel, but he forgot to add Fabreeze before covering! I use World's Best CL for Maggie. By mistake I bought some scented, and I just added it to one of her two boxes. She would not use the one with the scented litter. Aren't these kitties so funny! His AMPS is not that bad for the numbers being all over the place, but I know he is usually lower. Food definitely does make a difference, even the first time with a change and it's lc. I'm still struggling with food, too! Have a nice day and hope things slow down for you.

Re: 10/7 Simon AMPS 145

have your tried evo duck for Simon Do Lou loved it but it gave him the runs but it might agree with Simon and should not hurt his BG's

Re: 10/7 Simon AMPS 145

That's a nice number to start the day!. I used to have a cat, that would pee on our bed to let us know she wasn't happy. It was terrible, so I'm with you on just giving in and going back to what pleases him!

OH my Gosh I am sorry for laughing, but I am really laughing. Simon!!!!!!

If it is allergies I wonder if you should try giving the allergy pills for a longer term. They may provide more relief if you are feeding the different foods that he doesn't react as much to.

Re: 10/7 Simon AMPS 145

Hi guys .. I'm sorry you are still struggling with the itchy ears and the higher bg's .. how funny simon covered up his poop! When mocha isn't happy with us, she deliberately poops in front of her LB .. she makes no effort of hiding her displeasure with us .. Have a great weekend guys!

Yay for green! Must be the wellness food working.

Lisa, I have tried the EVO chicken or turkey with Simon and he liked it for a couple of days then hated it. I am going to try the duck and see what happens. Maybe if I just keep switching between the wellness, the EVO, FF chick and the NB duck, he may like all of them as long as he is not eating them more than 2 days in a row.

Maggie, maybe we should start our own picky eaters support group. I don't think we will have much trouble finding members!

Jessica and Devon, too funny on the antics with your kitties. I think I will take the peeing next to the lb over peeing on the bed any day. Jessica, that must have been fun cleaning!

Karrie, I think you may be right. I am going to start Simon back on the anti-histimine and see what happens. This whole food experiment has really made me realize how much allergies can affect our kitties. I just wish there was an easy answer to the problems.

Georgia:

Nice PMPS for SImon and he is SUCH a clever boy!!! I'm so sorry for the allergy issues. They do run blood tests for allergies and it will give you a full report of what he is allergic to in foods. We did this with Teddi a few years ago because she started throwing up and they could not find one reason why she should. When we got the report back, there were several things in the food I had been giving them that she was allergic to. Once we changed foods to ones that had none of those ingredients, she was absolutely fine.

Hope all else is well and Cleo is well. We've missed you!!
