I have been gone for most of today. We had to go back into the vet this afternoon to draw more blood since they didn't have enough to complete the PCR test for hemobart. Slight rise after breffis to 205. He was 129 right before the vet visit today.

We might know about the hemobart test by tomorrow afternoon..... it might be Monday though. Below is a list of the values from Feb that were outside the normal range and the current values that are outside the normal range. For the latest blood work there was a comment at the bottom stating: "There was less than 0.5ml of blood in the CTT. Excess EDTA may mildly reduce the HCT resulting in false MCHC elevation. Blood smear reviewed by technologist."

Hi Kelly, Did they also check the kidney values like creatinine, phosphorus, BUN? I'm no expert, but if I were you I would talk to my vet about the HCT. That low value indicates anemia and probably needs to be addressed. Blackie has had high ALT and cholestrol for quite a while and our vet was never worried about it. I hope others with more experinece will be on soon.

..........FEB.......OCT...... RANGE

Creat...1.0........1.3........(0.6-2.4)
Phosph..3.1........3.1........(2.4-8.2)

Since our foster kitty, Yoda, just went through anemia caused by hemobartonella, we are currently running a test for Oscar to see if he has the same mycoplasma. It also looks like something might have gone wrong with the CBC part of the test and given us slightly lower HCT values than actual (due to the note that was put on the end of the lab results)

I have been reading about low lymphocytes, and it can be caused by steroids and stress. So since Oscar takes 3 puffs of 250mcg flovent twice a day, that could contribute to it. I know it isn't systemic, but a small small amount does get into the blood stream. Other than that, it could be an acute infection.

I found this about anisocytosis:

Anisocytosis means that your red blood cells are unequal in size. In most cases there will be a few undersized or oversized blood cells and this is normal. When they note a number such as +2 anisocytosis, this means that there are unusually large numbers of this condition and that sometimes is flagged regarding a blood disease. It could be from anemia, bone marrow failure, or from transfusions of extra blood cells.

I'm by no means a pro with interpreting labs, but my first thought was anemia. The ALT, RBC, and HCT are suggestive of anemia. I also think the steroids can effect ALT values.

Did you cross post on Health?

anemia stands out. the alt level is elevated but not at a scary level. add a few hundred points and i'd be more worried.
cleo's alt reduced when i started her on denamarin. 1 pill a day, small dog size. i get it via ebay or thevetmarket.com. cut pill in half and stick in a pill pocket. give right away because pill loses effectiveness as it has more contact with air/light.
if oscar won't eat pill pockets, roll the pill pocket in fortiflora and he'll probably love it. (i get that at thevetmarket.com, too. i know that site because its owner formerly sold on ebay and has been a good seller for cleo's supplies.)

very interested to find out how the hemobart results come out.
