Yes, sweetie, it is hard and stressful at first. You will get there.
Yes, I saw that, too. Each of us have different experiences with our cats. And our cats have different carb sensitivities.
In most cases, you want to stick with LC to the greatest extent that you can. However, if the numbers are falling fast and your cat is not responding to LC or you know he’s not really carb sensitive, you want to try and slow them down with a bit higher carbs so you don’t get a huge bounce. I’ve found bounces from fast-dropping numbers to be worst than bounces from lower numbers. My baby could dive fast and the best way to stop it and flatten it was to feed her 10-13% carbs.
Our goal is to get to as flat a “curve” as we can so if you can get to that using only LC, fantastic. But if you need a bit of MC to flatten the curve, then use it.
We certainly don’t mean to swamp you with a lot of different info. As Wendy said, it’s a peer reviewed board so you are going to get different responses based on different experiences. Look at SSs and see if the advice giver’s cat was flat or bouncy. How did they respond to food?
We do have a lot of bouncy cats here and I’ve helped a lot of members with them. Using food to manage the curve and flatten it out is a great benefit.
Hang in there and don’t get discouraged. Every one of us has walked your path....just learn what you can and see how it applies to your baby.
