10/6 Sunny AMPS 344, +2 253, +5 160

Any tips on how to calm the bouncing? Or do we just have to wait it out? The vet says i need to be feeding him less and get some more weight off to improve his numbers. I don't disagree, but Sunny does!

He's 17# and getting between 250 and 300 calories a day, all in lc food. Some days he does ok with less, but most days he spends the day begging.
 
He’s going to want more food until his numbers get better which is starting to happen. Max was a big boy but not real active and he only got 2 cans of fancy feast unless I had to feed the curve. My two girls drive me crazy for food but I won’t let them eat more than about 150 calories as I don’t want them overweight. They are small and weigh 8 3/4 pounds. They think I starve them. catinfo.org has a good section on how to safely help them lose weight.
 
Thanks @tiffmaxee I'll go check out that site. Sounds like i am overdoing it based on what your kitties are getting. I'll try to make some portion size adjustments but still spread it out over the day;)
 
It’s mportant not to lose too fast as that can lead to fatty liver in cats so follow her calorie count suggestion and don’t decrease too much. I helped a friend’s cat get to his ideal following her. It took well over a year as I recall.

What weight does your vet feel would be best? Sunny is large I think? Max was too but his ideal was about 13 pounds although he never got there. I was fine with 14-15 with him but once diabetic never got close. He doesn’t don’t play with toys and his only activity was chasing Tiffany but we lost her when they were only 12.

The worst part about dieting your cat is having to weigh yourself with the cat and then subtract your weight! I'd really rather my weight did not enter into this process. :eek: LOL :D

Get a digital baby scale. They are under $50 and much more accurate plus you don’t need to see your weight. Look on Amazon or eBay. Prices keep changing so don’t buy high. Look at Health-o-meter or Salter.

Sorry! I missed this part earlier.
It's so hard for our babies to lose their buddies. Not to mention hard on us. :( Sorry about Tiffany:bighug:

Sunny is large and he was 17.5 # about a month ago at the vet. He plays with toys but doesn't stay moving for very long. He ends up flopping down and plays while laying down. He won't join in the other cats chasing each other very often. Hopefully that will change as I get his weight down. I know his inner kitten wants out!
