10/6 Charlie sent us 2 little angels

Last weekend, we went to a charity organization in Amsterdam called 'the cat boat'. We decided to adopt 2 little needy kitties. One is 3.5 months old (ella) and the other is 6 months old (otis). Both were strays. We sure miss our charlie girl, but there is a little more warmth in our house now that we have saved these 2 little love bugs.

Ella and Otis just hit the jackpot. They found some very loving beans to take them home. I'm sure Charlie would be so happy.

The catboat is a very cool sanctuary.
 
This little girl was one of 3 siblings. Somebody took her brother and sister, and she was left on her own. Our hearts broke seeing that.
She was real scared, timid and stressed. A lot like Charlie was when I first found her.
 
This little guy was found in an elevator (thus, the name Otis, a famous brand of elevators).

It made us think of Otis Redding (rhythm & blues great), so we named his new friend Ella (since Charlie used to LOVE laying with her belly open listening to Ella Fitzgerald).

Now we have 2 little musical kitties in the house.

This is so wonderful, not only that Ella and Otis have found loving homes but that you have allowed them into your heart as well as your home. I believe Charlie is smiling and sending much love and approval.

After the loss of my beloved Pirate Fitz there was such a vacuum in our home and emptiness in our hearts, but turning to our three civies and adopting a new stray into our feral colony (now neutered!!!) we are healing that still open wound.

John Lennon was right. Love is the answer.

For the past 3 weeks, our apartment has been completely empty. It has felt so clean and sterile that it went from being a home (with charlie in it) to just a house (soul-less).

We swore we wouldn't get any cats again, for fear of losing them again and going through the pain we just went through. Then we took a walk past the cat boat charity organisation, and decided to go inside. It took all of about 5 minutes of seeing all those cats in cages, and we knew. We have a lot of love to give. Charlie would have wanted to us bring some of that love to some other, needy little kitties.

That is wonderful. Ella and Otis are so cute. They will have a great home with all of the love you have to give.
 
Hi Jill. Hi Jill. Ella en Otis zijn twee gelukkige katten veilig thuis. The Cat Boat looks like a pretty neat facility but then Amsterdam is full of unique places and things.

We lived in Maastricht for a year and Brunssum for about 5 years. We loved The Netherlands!
 
Thanks, everyone. We are so happy to have them in our home. We will do our best to avoid being too paranoid and just give them all the love we have to give.
Otis came home sneezing and now Ella has sneezed a bit too. I immediately did a google search on sneezing and freaked out. That was a week ago, and already they are doing better. The sneezing is nearly gone now. We will take them for a check up at the vet soon. For now, they are adapting to their new home and starting to seem real happy here, which makes us happy too.

Wow! There is someone on the board who speaks Dutch better than we do. :-D
Good luck with your kitty care, everyone. Charlie is watching over all of you for being such wonderful human beings that you are doing your best to keep your little ones healthy. Keep doing what you're doing.
 
Can anyone remind me what the right amount of wet food we should feed these 2 little kittens?

Otis currently weighs 3.4 kilos (or 7.5 pounds).... And super cuddly.

Ella currently weighs 2.1 kilos (or 4.6 pounds) ... And VERY cute.

Your two little ones are adorable and I'm so happy you found them at de Poezenboot. Many years ago during a visit to Amsterdam, we visited the cat boat and I'll never forget it. I remember it being a safe, clean environment and the kitties were well taken care of. Congrats on your new heart warmers. :-D

Adorable little buggers!!! Tiki was so rambunctious as a kitten he just about killed me. Can't imagine how bad it would have been if he had had a partner in crime. Please continue to share stories of their escapades. Once they settle in double trouble will likely ensue! :-D :-D Charlie is smiling and so are all of us. So happy for you and your two new bundles of JOY!
 
adorable!!! So glad you saved these cuties ... I'm sure they will bring you many happy memories and much love over the years ...
