So far, so good on the reduction. For a while last night, I thought she wanted another already, but no, not yet!
Happy Caturday!
I have created a little monster. A sweet one, but geez. I spent over an hour with her outside after putting her in her cathouse yesterday. It was our special healing - sunshine healing - that's what I was telling her. There is no way she'll let me slide on the promise of making it accessible and safe for her again. She wants to go out!! A lot! DH shall be helping.

It's beginning to feel like Fall - yippee!! My dog and I are making our walks longer again.
I'm off to visit some other kitties. Tina is hollering at me. Oh dear. More vocal, more active too.
Be safe and best wishes for a fun weekend:):cat:

Tina is really letting you have it. She must be having a blast in the outside house. Very happy that she is doing well on this reduction...that is really GREAT!!
Hope your eye is feeling better and better. Enjoy your day Jan:)

Ok Debra - look at that +2 . . . I'm thinking it's lag time before the insulin starts working, instead of just a food bump. She eats 3.9% carb food, less than 1/2 small can for brekkie. I'm going to try a 2.9% again that she didn't like in the past, but is so similar.
I'm admitting this too - first test this morning, I didn't think I had enough blood, but the alarm sounded. That was 121. My second test was 109, which is what I posted. So - another reminder that I need to not worry about exact numbers, but trends. My left brain knows that, but the right side isn't keeping upo_O

My eyes are fantastic. Already starting drops for the second eye being done Friday. Yesterday the eye doc told me I'm legal to drive since one eye is better than 20/40. He basically said one good eye is all we need for driving. I don't really agree, but that's the law.
The fixed eye doesn't even feel dry any longer:) And I bought some good sunglasses:joyful:

I have always been told to get a +2 as from that number I will know how the cycle is going to go. And for the most part it has always been pretty accurate. When +2 goes down by a lot than I am going to have an active cycle with Yo. If +2 goes up, I know either Yoyo is going to BOUNCE or the cycle is just not going to be very active and maybe just a straightish line-flat. Lantus seems to work that way for Yo, by that I mean that the +2 tells me a lot of things about what is going to happen with that cycle. Of course, that isn't always the case, but most of the times the +2 does alert me to what is going to go on. By +4 in Yoyo's cycles he usually starts to level out, sometimes he goes down more when the cycle is very active. Some times he has even gone up at +4.....very unpredictable kitty:confused:
Have you ever been told to get a +2?
I'm sure you are following someone with lots of good experience, so just continue because Tina and you are doing a fantastic job!!

So glad the eyes are almost perfect. Can't wait until you have the second surgery and both eyes are working the way they should and you can drive with confidence.

Have a wonderful day!!

+2 seems to be the common beginning checkpoint for glargine. My buddy Lou never had much use for +1s or +2s, as they would both be increased due to his food spike and the lag between one cycle ending and the next starting. Lou's indicator to see how the cycle would go was a +3 check. Just play around with those checks with Tina. As you know, ECID, and what works for one may not work for others. You'll figure out what the best indicator for Tina is. :bighug: Debra's right, you're doing a fantastic job!

Thank you for this. I do remember the +2 tip, but the few times I checked (very few), it was high, so I took that number for granted as being a food bump. Plus, I don't want to poke more than needed. I see how true that +2 check usually is for Yoyo in predicting the future path. I've been timing everything I do around Tina, but if I could find a good indicator, I'd have more freedom and confidence. I will start checking before +4, and see if I understand her direction better.

I was a little stunned when you mentioned following someone with good experience! I've been following a lot of you, but never have hooked up or tagged anyone in particular. How would/should I follow one of the extra experienced board members?! Is it normal to have a consistent helper? I've been pretty shy and not sure about the "following" idea! I do have two followers, and wasn't sure what that meant!!! Ok, I spilled some forum etiquette ignorance. I haven't wanted to bug anyone o_O

Thanks Amanda - Tina is making me look good by being fairly steady and not bouncing. And I'm so lucky she continues to feel more like her old self. The neuropathy is a pain in her butt at times, but she isn't letting it stop her anymore from enjoying being a cat. She has strong memories of stronger health and the good old days!
I've also found getting a late cycle check can be helpful.

So glad to hear about your eye!! That's great news!

As for forum etiquette, I've never followed anyone in particular...good to weigh lots of opinions...and depend on the stickies...since even the most well informed will often fall back on the wisdom of the stickies - as it is written, as it shall be. The stickies are a compilation of years of experience consolidated and compiled to help us all understand. Read and re-read...

Excellent job on shooting those greens :) Good to hear that Tina is giving you the biz too! Means she's feeling better and more like her old self.

Have a great evening Jan!
