We are starting today with a 110, which was the same as his +6.25.

At first I was a wee bit disappointed because I had left food out for a snack at +9. But then when I opened the feeder and saw he didn't touch any of it, I then loved the 110

We shall see if the dosecrease threat, coupled with two really flat cycles, will mean some greens for Mr. Skooter today.....

Re: 10/5 Skooter AMPS 110

Paws are crossed that the dosecrease threat works it's magic!

How was the afternoon at the aquarium yesterday?

Re: 10/5 Skooter AMPS 110 +2.25 95 +3.25 91

A lot of it was under construction, so we also got passes free passes for when all the construction is done.

Lana, my great niece is only 6 months, but she was fascinated by the jellyfish, seahorses and sharks. I was a bit underwhelmed, but I am guessing that had more to do with it not being fully viewable. I look forward to going back and seeing it when it is all done....looks like there will be a lot of stuff to see.

I fear we are headed for a visit with the yellow floor :(

Twice today, I thought I heard him throwing up, but I have searched the house and cannot find anything....he isn't super interested in his fuds like he normally is and is a bit hissy.....

Not sure what is up with him, but currently accepting any kind of vines peeps have out there for him to start feeling better. With his last rounds of tests, he basically depleted the little amount of savings I had left, so I really can't take him in, so I really REALLY hope he starts feeling better.....

Re: 10/5 Skooter AMPS 110 +2.25 95 +3.25 91 +6.75 136 +9 163

You might try 1/4 tab of Pepcid (Famotadine) about 30 minutes before food...sometimes it helps

Is he lip smacking? That can be a sign he's nauseous ....having some Ondansetron around the house is a good idea..it's a powerful anti-emetic that is used for chemo patients so it's expensive, but again, you only need a little so you don't need a bottle of 100 to last awhile...10 will do...and if they're still vomiting after a dose or two, they need to be seen anyway

Feel better soon Skooter!! China and Cinco want their lagoon buddy back!

Re: 10/5 Skooter AMPS 110 +2.25 95 +3.25 91 +6.75 136 +9 163

Thanks for the info!

and thank goodness for Walgreens across the street....I just gave him 1/4 of a tab famotidine....I will wait about 15 minutes and see if he will eat anything....he just turned his nose up, but he just got the meds....

Fingers crossed....trying not to freak out or get upset, but he has never not eaten before....

Aw, poor Skooter! Unhappy tummies are the worst. Sending lots of good tummy and appy vines. I hope the Pepcid helps.

Maybe he just wanted to keep Cinco company today. He was in the high blues/low yellows all day. Hopefully they'll both head on down to the lagoon with China later.

Are you feeling better Molly? Hope so!

Re: 10/5 Skooter AMPS 110 +2.25 95 +3.25 91 +6.75 136 +9 163

I feel like crying I am so worried about Skooter....he has NEVER EVER not eaten before.......I haven't given him his insulin yet, and I just don't know what to do.....except cry...I am sure I am over reacting, but he has never been like this before......I even sprinkled some fortiflora on it and he is showing no interest....

Give the medication a chance to work and see if it helps

I know you have to be careful with his IBD, but have you tried other food? Maybe a little baby food would spark his appetite...plain chicken/broth

Re: 10/5 Skooter AMPS 110 +2.25 95 +3.25 91 +6.75 136 +9 163

Molly, if Skooter is nauseated, he won't eat. Cats sometimes do this for no reason except that they have a little touch of kitty flu or a kitty cold or something. Just like people occasionally get sick. The good news is he just had a complete physical and everything looked great. I know it's hard not to panic, but these things happen sometimes. Snugs, my 20 lb. cat loves to eat, and he will eat anything and he will eat as often as I let him. But he has had a couple of instances of barfing and then not eating for 24 hours. It scared me to death, but it passed.

Re: 10/5 Skooter AMPS 110 +2.25 95 +3.25 91 +6.75 136 +9 163

Thank you :)

He did just eat some of the rotisserie chicken I got and seemed very interested in it....but I didn't want to give him too much, I want to see how this holds first....

I have seen a lot of people who give baby food, so I did pick up some beech nut stage 1 chicken and stage 1 turkey that I can also try....

He normally eats Nature's Variety chicken....I have some beef, duck and rabbit of that I can try, but I can't remember which one people said not to use because we didn't have the carb info on it and I picked up some Fancy Feast turkey and giblets classic as well.....so I am hoping I can get him to eat some more with that.....

I know his numbers will be sky high tomorrow, but hopefully I will be able to get him to eat in the morning so I can shoot then.....as it stands, we are 90 minutes past shot time....

Re: 10/5 Skooter AMPS 110 +2.25 95 +3.25 91 +6.75 136 +9 163

Make sure the baby food doesn't have any onion in it. My sister's cat lived on baby food for the last couple of years of her life.

I am gonna leave some of that out, a little of the Turkey FF I got and a little of the NV chicken.....see if he will eat some of it on his own.....

He just so isn't himself right now  Oh I how I overly worry about every little thing he does.....

I just hope he starts feeling better soon....this is kind of how it started when he had his really bad bout of IBD several years ago....

I have put out a plate that has some NV chicken, one that has Turkey FF and the other rotisserie chicken.....he did eat some of the chicken and the FF, but not touching the NV.....at least he ate something.....

I gave him the Pepcid around 615ish or so....would it be bad if I gave it to him around 545 tomorrow, to see if I can get him to eat by 615 so I can give him a shot?

I think you have a little wiggle-room with the timing of the Pepcid....I'm sure giving it half an hour early is no biggie....

Sending good eating vines to Skooter!! It's good that he's eating a little bit at least. That rotisserie chicken is hard to pass up.

If you're looking for more strategies...Swanson's makes unsalted chicken stock that doesn't have any of the extras (onions, garlic, celery) in it - it's just plain chicken stock (not broth) with no salt added. Billie is off chicken now, but she was loving that for a while and she went for it on days when her appy was off. To really amp it up, you can sprinkle some fortiflora in the chicken stock and make a little cocktail. I also mixed it in with her food if she wasn't eating, and it convinced her to eat more.

Molly. So sorry Skooter's off his food. He's eating a little, that chicken and T&G. That's good. Could be any number of little things. Here's hoping it's just a little glitch and your boy's back on the appy and numbers track soon.

Prayers. Lots of them.

Stopped by to drop off some appetite stimulating vines for Skooter.Could he be working on a fur ball?

I appreciate the vines so much....I am just beside myself, and most likely just over reacting, but I worry oh so much about him.

He has never really been prone to hairballs. In fact, I could not tell you the last time I have seen him have one.....

He is asleep in his cat bed next to me on the couch....which is where I shall sleep so I can keep an eye on him...he did eat a little bit of the turkey FF I put out and he does eat the rotisserie chicken when I give it to him. He has also drank some water....which I guess is good. Going to try and get some sleep and hoping I wake up to a kitty who has a much better appy.....

Sending tons of appy vines your way. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: Nothing worse than a cat who loves food going off their food. Neko did the same to me a little over a month ago. She's an acrocat, she lives for food. As long as Skooter is eating a bit (like Neko was) and keeping it down, that's a good sign.

LB output all normal?

From what I can tell LB output looks normal..

It still gets very clumpy like when first dx'd, that hasn't gone away yet, not sure if it is his new normal or what....but he has had basically complete blood work and his uranialysis that all came back normal.

I so know I am overreactimg and crying amd such, but just weird for him to not want to eat. He has kept down everything he has had so far, so I see that as a good sign.

Another question about the Pepcid. ...will it do anything bad if I give it to him and his tummy isn't upset anymory more?

Finally had to turn the heat on here...

no, i don't think that amount isn't going to hurt him, whether he needs it or not. If it doesn't help with one dose, i'm not sure i'd keep using it though.

If it didn't help, he might not have excess stomach acid, which is what that helps with.

sending feel better/better appy vines to little skooter!

Sending lots of healing vines to Mr. Skoots. Any chance he caught a mouse? That's what keeps Clare from eating sometimes. This time of year they get into the house to stay warm. Hoping he gets his appy back by the morning.

Georgette and Clare

Normally if he gets a mouse, he likes to play with it and not eat it.

I just woke up to almost no rotisserie chicken left and some of the NV chicken gone and the plate moved.....so unless I do have mice and they came out to eat it, which I wouldn't think they would, Skooter did eat!

So I put more rotisserie chicken down and some NV chicken and he got up and ate some of the NV chicken!!!!! It is about 215 am, which is about +20 since his last shot.....I decided not to test him until preshot in the morning....I know he is gonna be high and there is no reason for me to stress over watching it go up and to test him unnecessarily, so he has gotten a break from that.....

I would not be surprised if we see a high yellow or even a low pink, but just couldn't risk it, with him not eating.....

Yay for the disappearing chicken! :-D :-D I think you have a Skootermouse that's eating it! ;-)

Sending more appy vines and prayers that you wake up to a hungry kitty in the morning. :YMHUG:
