all is well this morning. i think punkin's cleared that bounce, so we'll see how he does today.

turns out that the vet student is presenting Punkin's case to the whole veterinary school at CSU. I thought it was a small cohort, but it's everyone. I'm hoping someone will record it and send me a copy. It would be interesting to know what the student says.

i'm off in a few minutes for my own dental today - have to have a molar pulled and a bone graft done. ewww, yuck and owie. they're going to knock me out because they don't think they can get it numb, so i may be awol today. but i'll survive. see ya later!

Very COOL!!!

OUUUUUUUCH Julie. That sounds horrible. You would have to have me knocked out for anything like that and I'd need some crazy drugs afterwards. Hope you get babied big time at home.

I'm pretty sure there is nothing more terrible in the world than going to the dentist...so my sincerest condolences for your upcoming day ;-) ;-)

Re: 10/5 punkin amps 203

i have a mess in that spot. i grind my teeth and managed to crack the farthest back molar on that side in 98. it got pulled the day we moved into this house. the dentist put a crown on the tooth in front of it with a "cantilever bridge" that is a half tooth that sticks out farther back to sorta cover the missing molar spot and give the tooth on top something to go against. then i developed resorption in that messed-with tooth and they had to do surgery on it. they couldn't get it numb - it was like i was in a medieval dentist torture chair. i cried through the whole miserable thing - they should've knocked me out then, but they kept on going. it was horrible. i'll never go back to that oral surgeon again.

so now that tooth has had way too much pressure on it, between the teeth grinding and the force of this cantilever bridge, and the tooth has broken off of its back roots. it's basically teeter-tottered back and forth and the bone is gone around the roots. the oral surgeon told me last week that he recommended general anesthetic since he didn't think he could get it numb and i said go for it. i have to have bone grafts (oh joy) so there is a possibility of an implant in a few months. it just gets better and better. if i don't have something there, i'll lose the 2 upper molars, because they have to have something to go against.

i hate teeth stuff.

Re: 10/5 punkin amps 203

Hi guys .. Glad to hear punkin has cleared his bounce .. that sure would be nice if someone video taped the message for you .. is there any way the student talking could ask someone to do it? OUCHHHHH on the dentist nonsense! I can't even begin to imagine the pain you must of been feeling without being number properly .. sending you tons and tons of good thoughts for the dentist today!

Re: 10/5 punkin amps 203

Julie the dentist would be talking in a really high voice permanently if mine didn't numb me up. Holy crap. You are a strong person.

You have just motivated me to get out my nightguard. I hate that thing. I grind my teeth also and I'm down to dentin. But I couldn't handle what you've gone through.

Re: 10/5 punkin amps 203

i survived. what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, right? very happy i had the general - they had to put the iv in the back of my hands twice, first left then right. that sucked, but other than that i have no idea what happened.

i do use a nightguard, karrie - every night without fail. but i find myself clenching them during the day too. the dentist told me to wear it as much of the day as i can, but i don't.

the husband and son checked punkin's BG today - he's staying flat. don't have the numbers by me, but i think his +6 was 197. i think we gotta go back up in dose tonight.

Re: 10/5 punkin amps 203

Hi and glad you are okay - it all sounded so painful, just the words bone graft, but you seem okay. I would have wanted to be out for the dental, too. Glad Punkin stayed flat for you. Wow, that is great the vet student is presenting Punkin's case to the whole veterinary school at CSU. Punkin, can I have your autograph?

Re: 10/5 punkin amps 203

Hugs to you Julie. You are brave. Tell your family to baby you darnit.

I wonder if I clench in the daytime. I don't notice it but my jaw has been killing me. Feels like a toothache right near my teeth and jaw. I can't actually tell where the darn ache is coming from. I'm a chicken **** with the dentist too - can you tell? I think I'll make an appointment.

Re: 10/5 punkin amps 203

Phew! At least that dentist thing is over. Hope the dose crease does the trick. Have a nice evening.

Re: 10/5 punkin amps 203

Wow it sounds like you've had a rough day today. I hope you're not too sore. Glad Punkin is doing well. He's famous your boy.

Re: 10/5 punkin amps 203

oh wow on the teeth stuff. so so sorry... i hope it gets better.

Good luck on the new dose for punkin. and nice on the vet student -I hope you can get a copy.

i'm doing fine - but thanks for the sympathy. i have demerol :-D and there is no pain at all. stuff works like a dream. i've had far worse dental experiences - this doc was pretty good.

it's given me an excuse to stay home in pj pants, watching tv or sleeping with anya on my lap in a recliner. :-D

So cool the student will be making a presentation...I hope you get a video!

Teeth and dentistry aren't my favorite. I had an 'acute' abscess last year and had to go through the whole process of draining without pain reliever. There was a total of about 5 mini surgeries. The surgeon said he wished he got a pic because it was the worst he had seen (he teaches at UCLA). He said it was the stuff that killed cowboys. Mom wondered why I cried. He reprimanded my mom  Luckily I got the crown with pain relief. My dentist had to fit me for a night guard that I am picking up next week so I don't crack the tooth behind the crown. Too much info...all I am saying is that I feel horrible you had to go through that first experience, and I am glad you are feeling better after this one.
