Good morning everyone,
It's still been very up and down and all around with my buddy Lou lately. I'll think it's time for an increase, but then he'll have a decent cycle (never too low though). The next day he'll throw higher numbers again. I'm getting whiplash. Although he's still seeing greens, the blues seem to be popping up more often, and he's not hesitating to go higher than normal. And once he went higher, it seems easier for him to go higher still.

He hasn't had an increase since May of this year, falling steadily since he flattened out in April. Unfortunately, it seems he's stalled on the 1.25u dose and I think he could use some help to remind him how to surf again. I think I should increase to 1.5u, in hopes that it will help him remember what he's doing. What are your thoughts? I know it's not conventional, but I do think it may be worth it. In general, Caleb or I are home at all times to check and steer if needed. I appreciate your thoughts on the matter.

I don't know anything about IAA kitties so I have no idea if an increase could help, but your ss looks so pretty with all those greens. :D:D
 
You don't have a lot of room to increase with numbers in the 70s and even getting a 68 recently. I agree with Jill's suggestion of a fattened dose if you decide to increase.
 
Hmmm...I looked at his SS...and then back at your question...I'm thinking 'huh'....he was in the green lagoon all day and you want to increase? So you're thinking you can give him a push to the deeper parts to get him to go lower?

You know you guys have been a role model for us...so I'll be watching closely to try to figure out the logic on this one.

IMHO I think he's looking rather stupendous...but that's just me - watching from the cheap seats - also known as the lemon-tree - where Luci has apparently bought a condo or something - she's very reluctant to leave those yellows behind..

Well, the moral of the story here is Lou's a jerk and this 1.25u dose is getting in my head. I'm asking about increasing because he's all over the place, and he hits 65 today. So obviously I can't/won't increase tomorrow. My issue here is I find myself struggling a lot with this dose. At this point, I can't even be sure if I'm not basically dosing 1.5u when he's having good days and when I'm doing a "true" 1.25u dose is when he's going higher. Or it can be something else entirely. I think the ups and downs he's traveling are truly making me doubt my dosing ability, and I almost feel like I need to find some way to level myself out to trust my doses. I feel a bit lost here guys. :oops:

Yeah obviously he changed the narrative here. He always does this when I'm planning on increasing. Like I said above, we've been on this dose so long now that I'm doubting I'm even dosing him correctly at this point. The worry of am I or aren't I is starting to cause me to lose confidence.

So really the point of this post I think was to see about officially increasing to 1.5u to see if he levels out (and to see if I can get my dosing mojo back). And really, I would like to know more about increasing at these lower levels. When he's at the higher greens consistently, what levels are high enough to increase? Is going no lower than 80s-90s and having higher blues than "normal" a good indicator to increase? Hopefully I'll get more comfortable dosing these lower numbers eventually...

No. I had bought a pair, last year or so, but they were dead on arrival. I bought another pair off Amazon, but they're huge, so I haven't tried them... In fact, I'm not sure where they are at the moment.
 
Back in the first half of September, Lou had well over a week in just greens. You could have decreased then. Note, I am considering anything under 105 to be green with meter variance. You don't have to wait for an under 40 or three under 50 if you are doing that.

I do like the idea of using calipers to make sure your dosing is consistent.

Probably needed a new battery...

I had the same experience with the calipers from Amazon - just too darn big. I use the little ones from Harbor Freight - if that's the one you have open it up and replace the battery - you will absolutely love them, once you get used to them for consistent dosing.
 
I too agree with trying the calipers. I had the little ones from Harbor Freight. It was not easy to get used to using them at first, for me. Once I did, I felt a lot more confident in my dosing.
 
I'll see if I can find the original calipers from Harbor Freight. They technically worked, but the data on the screen was wonky and would change at the slightest provocation. I can't remember if I ever tried changing the battery, but it's worth a shot. I never actually used the huge ones, but it would be worth trying as well. You never know. I've never had a problem with dosing before, but then again I've always given higher doses on these U100 syringes, so I am a bit out of my depth dosing so low on such tiny syringes. I just kept hoping that he'd earn a reduction or truly earn a dosecrease so I could dose back on the line. Then hopefully I can get my mojo back. Another boring blue night, which isn't surprising. Hopefully he'll decide soon whether to work this insulin or ask for an increase so we can get on with it. :rolleyes:
