Last night's post

Darwin came up in the night, so I thought he was in the clear. Alas, he's low again this morning. Looks like he's earned another reduction, but it wouldn't be advisable to shoot this low, right?

I was so surprised to see that number as he was literally running around like a banshee when I woke up

No, do not shoot the 42. Can you stall without feeding and test again in 30 min to see if he rises over 50 on his own?

I can. Will do.

I would suggest doing another test if you have not fed yet. That 42 looks out of place with the other numbers from last night.

Checked it twice. 42 and then 46. It's not the first time he's come back up, and then dropped before preshot. I don't think he likes to do anything "normally" :blackeye:

Very unusual to drop that much at the end of the cycle. Darwin certainly does things "different" ;)

Karen suggested waiting and retesting in 20 minutes so that is the best plan to wait and see if he is coming up at all.

Have you done any major food changes in the last while?

I think Darwin is doing a lot of bouncing from hitting lower numbers. However he also seems to be clearing the bounces pretty quickly.

I think Karen's suggestion about taking another reduction makes sense with Darwin's patterns lately.

About 25 min post, and he's at 43. Not much change...
He may need to eat or could keep hanging there in the lower numbers. I'd feed him his regular meal and then there is a few choices.

Wait an hour after the LC, test and see if he's up enough to shoot and monitor.
Skip and get back on schedule at PMPS
Also possible to do what we call an 18hr cycle...meaning shoot at +6, skip PMPS and get back on track at AMPS

Okay, he's eating his breakfast, eagerly, now. I am off today, and can work my schedule around Darwin with no problem, so I am game to try anything. I haven't heard of the 18hr cycle before - that's interesting. Any thoughts on what might be best with his bouncy-ness? I'm guessing he will bounce either way with the the big drop at +2 last night, and now this low preshot...

ETA: It's hard for me to get TOO off timing with his shots because I leave for work about 30 min after his AM shot tomorrow...

Let's see where he is in an hour and if you can be 1.5 hours off schedule and able to shoot. To work back onto schedule you would need to shoot early either 15min at AMPS and PMPS or 30 min once a day until you are back on schedule. Shooting Schedule_Getting Back On Time

I'm not a fan of the 18 hour shooting because it messes up the depot for about 2 days. Doodles didn't do well with them. Not saying it wouldn't be a good option for you and Darwin (ECID) and is an easy way to get back on track. If you prefer to stay on schedule and he's not rising enough in an hour, skipping is an option....just think of it as a furshot which happens.

Okay - great, thanks! I'll see where he is in one hour. I may have to skip as I won't be able to shoot at the correct time tomorrow morning.
I'll check back in an hour with an update! Thank you so much for the help and guidance! Darwin thanks you too!

If you didn't shoot, that AMPS should be AMBG, for blood glucose. Or you can list it as +12 or now +13. Don't want people thinking you shot a 42.

A little higher please Darwin.

Max did that to me several times. In fact most of my green preshot sat tge beginning were in the morning after going to bed with normal Max numbers. I would have skipped too. I found that if I stalled and he didn’t come up he needed to eat. Congrats on two reductions.
