Ugh, black again. Papaya wasn't thirsty this morning when I offered water, though. I hope she gets this interest in the black floor out of her system  I just heard her plop down off the bed and come out to the hallway to claw the rug, so I guess she isn't feeling too bad despite the high numbers at the moment.

She did lick some of the toothpaste I put on her brush last night and didn't seem as offended by the flavour this time so maybe we will eventually get to proper brushing! Mariko, you are very right about the finger brush style not being one to try with Papaya  In fact I laughed at the end of the video about brushing, because the cat was really swishing its tail around and the guy was still petting it. If Papaya was doing that with her tail I would be putting a room and maybe a door between us until she settled down . . . I do kind of forget that all cats don't need to be treated like high explosives  She used to get very dangerous if I was having a long phone conversation. I think because it's just the two of us here, she assumes if I'm talking, it's to her, and so when I am talking on the phone it must kind of be overload, and she gets kind of twitchy and will start nipping at me. So yeah, finger in mouth . . . nooooo.

Come down, Papaya! No need to be way up there.

Amy, I love Papaya's spicy personality! Good luck with the teeth-brushing (you brave woman, you!).

Have a great day :-D

Hi Josie! Thanks for visiting! Papaya also decided there was nothing to see up there and took - even for her - the express elevator down. No wonder she came out looking for the next meal - it's got to feel a bit odd to have your BG drop like that. Well, at least I know she's in better numbers already.

Re: 10/4 Papaya AMPS=525 +4=219

I've heard from humans with diabetes that it does feel very disorienting to have your BG drop, so I'm always wishing for flatness for all.

Hi Amy, I'm glad Papaya came down nicely for you. Good luck with the tooth brushing. I've been trying it too, but have not done it in the past few days. I think getting blood was by far easier, and that wasn't even easy for us to learn. So far, I've only been able to brush the top canine teeth. I suppose baby steps is the way to go. I hope Papaya learns to tolerate it!

I'm with you on the finger in mouth thing. I might be able to do it with Neko, but not so much the civie. I'm just lucky Neko has good teeth. I go with nature's toothbrushes - raw chicken neck pieces, freeze dried quail necks and freeze dried duck gizzards.

Papaya - nothing wrong with flat days!

Thanks for coming by, Lara, Melissa and Wendy! It has been a very bouncy day here, grrr. Every time I change something, it looks like it will work for a week and then it's back to the usual skydiving. I'm wondering now if I need to feed her a bit more at preshot. I cut it back just a tiny bit because she's right back to 7 kg which is really too fat. She was down to 6 a year ago before she started insulin but it wasn't good weight loss, just bony shoulders and hips still with a belly. She was eating an entire 50% more then, so I guess I can be happy she's using the nutrients so well . . . it's hard to manage her crazy BG and keep her on a diet.

Papaya was so funny this morning when I was trying to leave food out. I put it on the shelf that runs the length of my bed at the same height as the mattress, so it's easy for Papaya to get to. She was under the quilt, just a lump at the other end of the bed. I went into another room for a few minutes and when I came back the lump under the quilt was in a slightly different place and the food was gone. Ninja cat! I guess the quick drop in BG really made her feel hungry! Here's hoping tonight is a bit flatter.

I hope Papaya flattens out for you in some lower numbers. I hear you on balancing a diet and keeping their BG in check. Furball could stand to lose some weight, but I can't figure out how to balance everything.

Sorry Amy, but I laughed out loud about Papaya and your long phone conversation.

I was falling asleep while visiting condos, but I'm so glad I caught this story!
I love Papaya so much!
(Oh, but not because she wants to eat fingers... "No papaya, don' eat the fingers that feed you!"
