Good Morning LL.

I decided not to take the reduction Muffin earned yesterday morning, blaming it on lack of food. It does give me hope that she'll get one soon tho. Muffin was following me around this morning, purred thru her test/shot, waited patiently at my feet as I made her breffis...and then did not eat any of it. Someone ate the small amt of wellness core dry I left out last night, don't know who it was. She seems in good spirits this morning, and I have confidence that she'll eat her breffis soon. At least DS is not home this morning, so I can leave the other cats out while I'm gone and they'll still be out when I get home, so her food is safe.

Hope everyone has a good first Monday in Oct. (My neighbors spent yesterday decorating for Halloween - ugh, it'll be xmas in a minute!)

Darn it! I left the slider open for the other cats to go outside, and Muffin took the opportunity to go eat grass on an empty stomach. Just came in and threw it up. Now she probably won't eat for longer. Darn it!

Nice AMPS for Muffin. You are always so patient with her, Anne, that's why I think you'll get her transitioned eventually. Ok Ms Muffin, there's some yummy breffis waiting for you whenever you decide it's time to eat. I hope her tummy settles and she eats soon!

On the decorations...I'm with you, I hate being rushed into the holidays!

+1 102 She ate a slice of turkey and some of the chicken just now. Sam came and ate the rest of the chicken, even tho she turned down the stuff I offered her downstairs. :roll: So I will refill Muffin's plate before I leave and make sure the others are all outside. Can't hurt to put out a bit of canned food as well. Oh, if only WE all ate as well as we feed our furries, right?

Thanks Ann & Laurie - I try to be patient. Now that we've begun this "battle of wits" over the disappearance of the FF dry food, I am even more determined not to bring it back out. If I give in after this many days, think how hard it will be next time!

I was just reading the ingredients on the rotisserie chicken (you'd think I'd do that before I fed it to the cat) and it says it's injected with up to 18% of a solution of water, salt, carrageenan and garlic powder. Isn't garlic supposed to be bad for cats? Or is that just for dogs? I know most of you use this just for treats, so I wouldn't worry it then, but Muffin is eating more than "treat amts" Is this bad for her? She does still prefer the turkey over the chicken, so eats that first, but...should I be worried?

Garlic can cause anemia in cats. From what I've read it takes a lot and is reversible once you stop giving it. The amount in the chicken probably won't hurt, but why don't you try just boiling a piec of chicken or baking it in the oven. Safer and cheaper.

You are doing a great job Ann!--I feed my cats rotisserie chicken from a local market, which uses only salt & water on the chickens only on the skin--I take off the skin--Some places use sugar based additives, you need to be real careful--I als take off the skin so Cooking a chicken at home is the safest!

+3 105 I'm home for an hour, so I'll google for more info. I got the rotisserie chicken because she's not interested in the plain cooked-at-home chicken. I do remove the skin, which has a whole separate list of ingredients, but this is what's injected into the chicken. I have read that it would take 4 whole cloves of garlic to actually affect a dog, so hopefully the amt in the chicken won't hurt her. Hmm...upon further inspection of the package, at the very top, it's MARKED garlic! ohmygod_smile I need to read better in the store :lol: I'll check to see if they have a plain one. Silly bean!

garlic or no, I'm just glad she ate something yesterday. googling the garlic thing - wide variety of answers, even found one vet who said 1/4 tsp a day in their food is a good preventative for fleas. so who knows? does look like a small amount isn't going to hurt her. (people do some odd things with garlic powder, really, more information than I wanted to know :lol: )

See mine like a little something with flavor..Hmm. Wonder if paprika is bad for them? I have even sprinkled a drop of garlic on chicken. But I dig into the chicken for meat for them.
I think it's the Injected garlic that's not too good--WHY WOULD THEY INJECT THE CHICKENS?? Pretty crazy--Usually flavor is put on the skin, that's how I cook things--
Oh well, hope that appetite keeps up!

+8 88 - better than +6 66, huh? :lol: She's eating another slice 2 slices of turkey right now. She slept most of the afternoon away in the baby scale. So cute.

Kim - I agree, I don't think the amt of garlic in this one chicken is going to hurt her. Next time I'll just have to make sure to get a plain one. (watch, now she won't like the plain one :roll: ) It's almost gone already, as the civies and the drooler are sharing it too. It makes a nice low calorie snack for Shnookie's lunch, so I think I may be buying a lot of these. :lol:

Roni - She won't eat tuna....or salmon....or red snapper...or crab...or shrimp...I don't think she's a fishy type of gal.

pmps 92 Muffin has had a great day today - she has not gone into hiding at all today, even tho Kibby has stolen her spot on the desk. She's been eating - enough to where I'm not panicked over it, but I'm still a bit concerned about the calorie count. I'm fairly certain it has not been her eating the wellness core overnight, as there's been some out all day and she hasn't touched it. Kibby ate some of it. Other good news, I got the prednisone in her tonight, without a major battle and without calling the neighbor. Phew! I may get up to give her a +8 snack tonight, to avoid the grass pukus in the am.

Good luck with her Anne - she beats all I've ever seen. I imagine this is BEYOND frustrating for you. For my own part, I hate to be outwitted by a four-legged creature, irks me to death.

She has to be eating something. If she was breaking down her own muscle mass for calories, she'd be positive for ketones and her weight would be dropping. Her #s have really been pretty good. little rascal.

Thanks Kim, I did weigh her before dinner, it's the same. I'll check for ketones if I can catch her in the box just to make sure. Good to know.

Hey Anne...glad Muffin had a better day....and her numbers are still great!! Thanks for checking in on Gracie today and giving Mike encouragement.
