Good morning!

Yesterday's condo

10/3 AMPS=250; +2=185
10/3 PMPS=110; +2=77; +4=112

10/4 AMPS=122; +2=103; +7.5=119
10/4 PMPS=131; +2=79; +3.5=101; +5.5=106

I am so glad to report to you that Lucy continues to feel better!!
Nice AMPS and good appy (still finger-feeding).
And her energy is much better too.
She woke me up before the alarm by licking my face, and when Ginger wanted to join us cuddling, Lucy threw a kitty punch at Ginger.
Poor Ginger, but this means Lucy's feeling good. She didn't want to share her momma.

Does anyone know about Vitamin E for cats?
Years ago, my vet suggested adding Vitamin E among other things.
(I can't remember what the other things suggested were, I'd have to ask to look at the file at the vet or check my old computer's e-mail...)
I also can't remember what it exactly was for.... maybe liver?
I think it was when her appetite was way low or after a particular bloodworwk (liver?)
I did give it to her for a maybe 3 months or so but didn't continue it as I didn't really see any difference.
And also the only VItamin E with small enough concentration I could find was Jamieson's 100IU, which contains Soybean oil.
(I used to prick a capsule and drip 3 drops, about a half of one capsule, so 50IU once a day.)

The other day, I was looking at this website on gallstones (thanks Lara), and it says that the Vitamin E helps, so I'm thinking about adding it again.
(I'm sure it wasn't for gallstones when the vet suggested it years ago, although Lucy had already had some stones by that time.)

I'd really appreciate it if someone could give me any information regarding adding Vitamin E for cats.
I really couldn't find much when I googled it.....

ETA: She just had a pudding poo....

I'm so glad Lucy is feeling better.
Sending her some firmed up poo vines.
Sorry, I don't know about Vitamin E for cats.

Re: 10/4 Lucy AMPS=122;+2=103 // Vitamin E

Hi Mariko,

I did a bit of searching, and the main thing I see is that cats who eat a lot of fish are prone to vitamin E deficiency.

Though Foster and Smith report that vitamin E, even at huge levels, isn't toxic to your pet cat, your cat can have far too little of the vitamin---a common and dangerous problem, according to Aspinall. Cats have a propensity to this problem because they eat a lot of canned, fishy food that is packed with a lot of oil---high in polyunsaturated fats but low in Vitamin E found in seeds, cereal grains and plant oils.

I have a kind of vitamin E that I use for myself and used to put in my cats' food, when I was making raw, that was supposed to be good. I'll post back with the details for you.

Hi Mariko.....nice news 'til we got to the puddin' poo. I hope that firms up quickly, for Miss Lucy. I'm so glad she's feeling better. :-D

I hope someone comes on , that knows of using vlt E for cats....I don't.

Re: 10/4 Lucy AMPS=122;+2=103 // Vitamin E

Hi Mariko! The only experience I have with vitamin E for cats was when I was still a kid living at home, I remember we had one cat who was always licking her stomach and had kind of worn off the fur in one spot, so Mom tried smearing vitamin E from a capsule on the irritated skin. But I don't know if it was the vet that suggested it or just someone else, so I don't know how it is for their insides!

I'm glad Lucy was feeling energetic this morning :-D

Re: 10/4 Lucy AMPS=122;+2=103;+7.5=119 // Vitamin E

I'm glad Lucy was feeling better this morning. Sorry about the pudding poo. I hope it firms up soon.

Re: 10/4 Lucy AMPS=122;+2=103;+7.5=119 // Vitamin E

Interesting question on the vitamin E. I've noticed that a number of raw food manufacturers add vitamin E to their food. And I found an article saying vitamin E is good for cats with renal insufficiency. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16502108 The supplement that Lara suggests looks good. I searched for suppliers near me, and one is a homeopathic vet clinic.

Good to hear Lucy was feeling better and watching you wake up again. :-D Sending firm it up vines her way.

I'm sorry about the pudding poo, but I am so glad to see she is feeling better today!! Interesting about the E....I'm going to look further, too, when I can find the time!

For now....solid poo vines for you!!! Have a great evening, Mariko!!

Hi Mariko,

Happy to hear that Lucy is still feeling good, even with pudding poo! Interesting reads about Vitamin E.

Hope you have a good night!

Re: 10/4 Lucy PMPS=131;+2=79

Thank you very much for visiting Lucy.
Thank you, Lara and Wendy, for the additional info on Vitamin E.
I'll look into it more.
Vitamin shopping this weekend!!!

Lucy is still feeling very good!
She just ate her 3rd dinner by herself!
Yay!!!!

I've been giving Lucy ReNew Ultimate Flora, but maybe I'm not giving her enough she notices the taste if I add more and doesn't seem to like it much.
She dislikes the taste of FortiFlora, but I may give FortiFlora tomorrow.
Her appetite is good enough that she may be willing to compromise.

The freeze dried quail necks and duck gizzards are available at Korna in the dog section. Both kitties LOVE the quail necks. They also have chicken necks in the freezers.

Hi, Mariko, I'm soooo glad Lucy is still feeling good :-D and eating on her own :-D .
Some kitties like/love FortiFlora, some don't. Ripley falls into the latter category.

Have a good night!
