Yes...fed him. Don't let him wolf a bunch of food down...give him a few tsp, wait ten minutes or so and give him more...you don't need to drag it out a long time but just don't let him scarf and barf.

I'd get a +1 and +3. If he's headed up, I'd go to bed. If he's not, I'd set the alarm and check him around +5 or so.

Get some rest. You've had some long days and nights. Great job! Shoot 1.25u tomorrow at 10'if you want to be shooting at 9 after the time switch.

I can't thank you enough Marje for all you've done today and tonight. I'll feed him, slowly, and then get a +1 and a +3 if he's going up ok to go to bed if not retest at +5. I hope I got that right.

Marje, you never directly answered John's question and I was curious too of what the answer was.....

Looking over this I noticed that he has only had 10 teaspoons of food this cycle. Could that be a reason he is dropping?

Re: 10/31 PurrFace +3/69 +4/61 +5.5/81 +7/98 +10/82 +11.75/

John,
Looking over your recap, I only count seven tsps of food since amps. And all of it in the first four hours of the cycle. What's amazing is that it only pushed him up to 98.

I can't equate spoonfuls to ounces or "cans" so I don't have an idea of if what he ate is "enough"? It's also a matter of when they eat combined with how much with respect to what it does to bg numbers over a 12 hour cycle. What i see as encouraging is that he doesn't seem to spike much from LC food compared to some other kitties. And seeing this degree of flatness in his curves, this early in the dance, is also very encouraging.

I think skipping was a good call.

John...he may surf for a while but he can't hypo without you actually giving him insulin so make it as easy on yourself as you can. Even a +1 and +2 and as long as he's not dropping, get some rest. I'm a worry wart because Gracie loves to throw me curves but this is your chance to recharge so try to get to bed as soon as you can.

Sorry I missed the question. I don't think he dropped because he got less food than normal because you were feeding him often. Next time remind me how much he normally eats....10 tsp sounds like a ton to me....Gracie is so little that she only eats about a 3 oz can a day.  I wanted to be sure we didn't get him too full but I didn't mean to starve him :-D

I'd leave food out for him....I know the girls might eat it, right? But maybe he will push them aside.

And you are welcome. You are getting to be a pro. Unless you have a question, then have a great sleep!

Hi Carl, I believe for dry measure you multiply the number of teaspoons by .3333 to get ounces so a teaspoon is about a third ounce......I think

Re: 10/31 PurrFace +3/69 +4/61 +5.5/81 +7/98 +10/82 +11.75/

Sorry, John. I wasn't counting tsps...I was just watching numbers and working   shame on me!!!

Carl..did you count all the tsps he got this morning while stalling from +10?

Re: 10/31 PurrFace +3/69 +4/61 +5.5/81 +7/98 +10/82 +11.75/

Thank you again Marje. He won't have any problems pushing the girls aside if he is hungry. He's back up to 14 pounds which is about where he needs to be and eats 2 to 2-1/2 3oz cans a day normally. I understand now why we hold food when numbers are low and why it's rationed as we test. I hope you can get a good nights sleep and thank you again.

Thank you also Carl for your info and have a good night.

Re: 10/31 PurrFace +3/69 +4/61 +5.5/81 +7/98 +10/82 +11.75/

You are very welcome. No rest for me tonight. Gracie just went from 150 to 79 in 1.5 hours. Thus once again justifying her nickname of Lil Stinka!

Ni Ni....off to feed her! :-D

I really wish there was some way I could help you tonight with Gracie.

Re: 10/31 PurrFace +3/69 +4/61 +5.5/81 +7/98 +10/82 +11.75/

John,
The best way to determine food intake is calories, and if your food is on dr. Lisa's charts, that info is on them. But ballpark? Bob also weighs 14 pounds. He holds that weight eating two 3oz cans of fancy feast and half a can of friskees, per day. So about 8.5oz, roughly 250-275 calories a day. He ate about the same amount per day when he was on insulin, maybe an ounce or two more. If Purrface is maintaining his ideal weight, then his food is enough. As he gets better, he may require less per day to hold that weight since he'll be utilizing it more efficiently.

PurrFace is eating about 6-7 oz a day but would eat more if given to him. His weight pre dx was 17 pounds and he dropped to just under 12 before being dx. Didn't gain much on Humulin N but did since on Lantus.
Thanks again and have a good night.

Re: 10/31 PurrFace PMPS-Skipped +1/70

Thanks on the offer! Mike is home so we will trade off. I'm going to bed now and will get up in a couple hours.

I think you should call it a night pretty quick here based on that +1.
