Sorry I didn't have time to do new threads the last couple of days. That is how my life is now.

Pumbaa has been surfing the blues today, other than his 241 reading at +3 AM cycle. Yeehaw! :thumbup But even that was below renal threshold, and that is where I want my little guy for the next week or so!

I hope his numbers for the AM cycle today weren't still caused by the 2.75U shed and that this is how he is reacting to the 2.50U dose!

I am going to be in and out of the house, with no regular schedule, for the next week or so because my mom is going through bowel resection surgery in the morning, since they found one cancerous polyp out of three polyps when she had her first colonoscopy at 78 a few weeks ago, and the one cancerous polyp did extend to the bowel wall. They will be removing about one foot of her lower descending bowel in the morning, as that section includes all of the three polyps that were discovered.

Thankfully, the hospital is only about 7 minutes away, so I will be juggling my time between the hospital, my house, and my mom's house, for the next week. And taking care of my 3 animals, as well as my mom's two cats. (I normally do a once a day, 3-mile trip to my mom's house to give her cat's their meds, and scoop the litter boxes and do other chores, but for a few days I will have to go there three times a day to make sure they are fed since I am the one who convinced my mom to get them off of dry food. *LOL*)

Anyway, if you have any energy left after your trying days to say a few prayers for my mom tonight and tomorrow and for the next couple of days, that would be greatly appreciated!

Prayers and healing vines for your mother. :YMHUG: Pumbaa sounds like he is doing awesome! I hope he continues to do well and makes thing easy for you while you are taking care of your mom.

Those are really great numbers, Pumbaa! Now just hold them in that general range while YOUR mom takes care of HER mom!

Suze, I will be thinking of you and your mom tomorrow and sending prayers your way. Hoping for the best outcome, no lymph nodes involved and a quick procedure.

(((hugs)))

Thank you so much, Sheila and Sheri!

Now, here's Pumbaa question.

He hit 50 last night. Of course that is what I was trying to prevent since I really needed sleep last night. *LOL* Little bugger.

Could that 50 have been from the 2.75U shed still, or did it come from the 2.50U dose, and do I need to decrease him to 2.25U this morning?

Tons of prayers on the way for your mom!!!

And absolutely no dosing advice on Pumbaa...lol. Because what I have learned to do with Autumn I don't think is sanctioned anywhere, but hey, its working for us..

Pumbaa just keep up those good numbers for momma while she takes care of grandma. And no diving for the basement just to get attention, mom still loves you but right now she has to look after her momma too.

Thank you for the prayers for my mom, Mel!

I did reduce Pumbaa to 2.25U this morning. I look at it this way, I can always bring him up again to the 2.50U tonight, and it wasn't quite a BCS, it was a small chicken shot. *LOL*

I am so sorry that I didn't see your question before you needed to make a decision.

I do not think the lows were off the old 2.75u dose because of that 1.5u dose that would have helped to decrease the overlap (also misleadingly called the shed for reasons that really bug me - but that is another discussion) AND it has been 6 cycles since he had that dose.

I think that 2.25u is safe for the day considering your attentions need to be elsewhere. Looks like he was starting a bounce this am, so you may lose a little ground for a few cycles. Hopefully, his body and regain the nice even 100s without any trouble.

Be aware that sometimes a breakthrough causes rapidly decreasing numbers - and, therefore, doses - so be sure to get some spot checks in when you can. I'd aim for something between +5 and +8 if you can.

If he is needing even less insulin, I think you will see that overnight tonight or during the day tomorrow at the earliest (I hope - keeping paws crossed).

Yay for Pumba!

I hope your mother does well through her surgery and recovery and her kitties feel the love  .

Laura and Heather, thank you for the good thoughts/prayers for my mom.

Sheila, no worries about not seeing my post. I erred on the side of caution, by dropping him to 2.25U, and am glad to hear that the 50 last night wasn't caused by the shed from the 2.75U dose. So tonight, Pumbaa will get 2.25U again, and hopefully he will clear this bounce quickly, without dropping too low, and without settling in at too high of numbers.

Update on Mom: The surgery went well! She's in a lot of pain, but that is to be expected. Thank you ALL for your well wishes! (((HUGS)))

Thank you, so much, Sheila. (((HUGS)))

And for good news tonight, Pumbaa is now down to 178 at his +6 PM!

I swear he bounced this morning so I wouldn't have to worry about him while worrying about my mom in surgery. :) And last night he went low just to tell me to reduce his dose so I wouldn't have to worry about him so much in the next week or so. Yeah, I know that's nuts. But I swear our cats communicate somehow, or I would not have created that anti-jinx incon! :)

Well, don't underestimate the messages we get from the universe - might not have been Pumbaa sending it... but he was the "channel" it went through so you would "hear and take action".

Sending prayers for your mom, and keeping good thoughts for Pumbaa to give you a worry break.
