Good Morning LL! Hope everyone had an uneventful night :smile: Hoot and I got some good sleep and are ready for the new day on his new dose! I just never imagined when he was diagnosed he would do so good so fast cat_pet_icon He is such an AWESOME boy, I love him so much ♥ Between him and all of you, this has been a much better journey than I ever anticipated :smile: Now it is in Hooties hands whats next. :-D :-D :-D Have a Purrrrrfect day LL!

I didn't get this till +2, I gave him a spoonful of HC, will test in 15 minutes and post

Actually, he did eat some LC after +1

Don't know how long it takes for the food to do it's thing but I will check again @ +2.5. I am worried because now the insulin is kicking in nailbite_smile

It usually take about 20 minutes for food to take effect. Karo or honey would be a faster bump , but they wear off after an hour or 2 and you need to keep checking and maybe giving more food. It just takes a drop or two.

Ok, thanks, I will check again @2.5 and give him 1 more spoonful of HC with a couple of drops of honey. Thanks, just needed some hand holding nailbite_smile

Just keep doing the same drill...feed HC with gravy ..a tsp..recheck in 30. It's ok to add a drop of karo and you should because I think the best thing for you to do is abort this cycle and get him up. It's early for him to be this low.

Because you just reduced last night, I think you could be looking at depot action. We need to see how the est of the day pans out but for now, just get him up and try and keep him up. Normally once they get into the 50s, we switch to LC but i want you to get him up into the 70s or 80s since this is so early. keep testing because the HC food, gravy, and karo will wear off.

Eta...you can take off the 911 please. Ill send a note out to see if anyone is available to watch you. Im on my way to work.

That's why we're here. This isn't a dangerous number yet, just a little early and you want to slow things down and keep him from going much lower.

Ok, his +2.5 was 63. I gave him 1 more spoonful of HC but no honey. I will check him @ +3 and thanks everyone :YMHUG:

Sounds good, the HC will keep him up longer than honey and he is on the way up already so no need for it now. I'll be here for about an hour and a half for more hand holding. :YMHUG:

I want to tack on to Ann and Marje's response to your question about how long it takes for food to kick in. It all depends on your cat and how carb sensitive your cat may be coupled with how fast they metabolize food. With some cats, you may see a response in 15 - 20 min. Others, it can take 30 min. or longer. In addition, how the cat responds to either HC or LC food may depend on how fast numbers are dropping and where you are in the cycle. A drop earlier in the cycle may require a more aggressive intervention than one that's late in the cycle when insulin is beginning to wear off.

In other words, it depends. It's also why we urge people to not become complacent if numbers are coming up. Numbers can turn around and drop again due to one or more of the above factors.

Had to run out for a minute, but his +3.25 is better. I'll just keep up on him and make sure he eats his LC. I can't thank you all enough! These last few mornings have been very scary learning experiences and I couldn't have done it without all your help :thumbup

That 76 is looking good, but remember they can drop again when the fuds start to wear off. So keep testing! From a quick glance at Hoot's SSit look like he often nadirs at +6 or &, so that is still a few hours away and that can change to earlier or later.

I have to go , keep testing and post for help earlier rather than later is he starts to drop again.
