I know she earned a reducie with that 38, but I can't seem to keep her on a single dosage for more than a couple of cycles. I feel I'm just making things worse by changing it up every few days - even when she warrants an increase or a reduction. I also believe the bupe is causing some of the wonkiness. But I don't want Fitzel in pain. She's so good at covering it and hiding it. I'm trying to ease her down to one shot a day, but it's anyone's guess if this is making her more in pain or not. She's not acting very different at all.

Also, her appy is just not filling out her hollow spaces. I really want to get some weight on her. Does anyone have any suggestions for calorie dense food which won't affect her BG's negatively? I'm trying to ply her with baked chicken, pieces of roast beef - she'll indulge a bit, then walks away. Or she'll lip at her food, move it about and walk away. She'll come back to eat a few mouthfuls, but just not enough.

Of course, for Halloween, you know Pirate Fitz is dressed as a..... Pirate tonight for all party fare.

Hi Shai,
I agree with you that it's important for Fitzel to put on some weight, whatever it takes.
There probably is a food The Pirate loves, that might be a little bit higher in carbs. Also, Tucker, and now Sophie, love their FF soupy, mixed with a can full of water. Gives them more water too.
I've noticed a bunch of people on here give their aliens some canned food choices I would think are higher in carbs than I would choose. Maybe that's because they give insulin still. Not sure....
In fact, I made fresh chicken broth from some spare chix parts I had in the freezer, and just boiled it for a long time.
It actually made a nice "aspic" (sp?) or gelatine when cooled, and sometimes put a teaspoon of it on top of the regular foods. They go wild for it!
I also agree with you to try and keep the dose constant, according to "the rules" as much as possible. They know what their doing and have had wonderful results with lots of kitties.

thank you for stopping by and for the info. I like your aspic adventure. Sounds like a good time was had by all. Right now I'm free feeding Fitz. Sherry (Sherry & Squirt) told me about a kitty tuna @ Trader Joes that I'm going to try. And I saw on another condo Rhiannon mentioned Maxcal an Iams product, that has extra calories. Nutrical was also mentioned but I believe that's in a sweetened base.

I've been broiling chicken breasts, getting thin sliced rare roast beef from a deli and she'll eat it for a bit then turn her fuzzy nose up at it. She loves bonito and some times I'll fill her bowl with that just to get something in her shaved belly.

I'm really worried as she's losing weight again and I can't seem to stop it. Her BG numbers are all over the map. From a 38 then, 2 hours later she's 173!

I'm feeling so lost here. I feel like she's disappearing bit by bit. I don't k ow what I'd do without my beautiful little pirate. I love this little kitty so much. So much.

Wellness foods are more calorie dense than Fancy Feast. The down side is that Wellness is higher in fat.

As far as bupe, it's not like many other meds. The higher the dose, the longer the duration. It's not like most meds whereby if you give a higher dose, the greater the pain relief. Pancreatitis is painful. If Fitzel isn't acting like herself and is better with the bupe, then you know that the episode isn't over.
