10/31 Beenie -not good news

This is so hard. We did get in to see the IM vet yesterday. A xray was taken and blood drawn. Along with that she apparently has severe dental disease on the top right side of her mouth and on the bottom gum a painful swollen reddened area (reg vet missed this at Sept wellness exam). A tough one because she needs a dental asap but with a potential heart condition anesthesia is now very risky. Option was Cornell Veterinary (dental) at a ridiculous amount of money. This is a better bet for monitoring for a cat with diabetes and a heart condition.

This afternoon the IM vet called and we spoke a few times. The Radiologist read the xrays and along with the enlarged heart the vessels going to the heart were also enlarged. She said Beenie is a ticking time bomb and she needs to get an Echo ASAP not next week. She herself called around and got us in with a Cardiologist in NJ who she says is the best. In her humble opinion though she's 95% sure that she has the early stages of CHF. Blood work also had bad news. Elevated liver enzymes which could be due to a number of issues.

So since May its been diabetes, Acro, heart condition, possible asthma, and something else that has elevated her liver enzymes.

It pains me but we are going to help Beenie cross the bridge. She has not been my little fireball in a long time. I have always chalked up her behavior to the diabetes but it so much more than that. She stopped grooming herself a while ago, no interest in the other cats, doesn't play, doesn't cuddle. I did get glimpses here and there but they were so short lived....only for minutes and every once in awhile. The IM vet said with treatment it would most likely extend her life by months. I asked her if it was all worth it and am thinking if I should let her go. She said she has so much going on that it wouldn't be uncalled for to put her to sleep. I'm not going to let her suffer anymore, her QOL is so poor. My regular vet will come to the house on Thursday and we will help her cross the bridge so she can run and play again. I know we gave her the best life possible and I finally have come to terms with this decision. I'll decrease her Lev just a little so I won't have to test her much between now and then, just at preshot. I don't know what time yet on Thursday but I will post once she's crossed.

I truly appreciate each and everyone of you for help on this journey. I thought FD was bad but it was a piece of cake thanks to everyone here.
