Staying in the yellows for now. He is becoming quite the piggy though. Eating way too much. Have cut back his portions but will go behind civvies and eat whatever they leave behind if I don't get it up fast enough. Gotta leave some for grazing or else my civvie Bing has behavioral problems which equals wounding.

Alska has a chubby pink belly now.

I am not sure how things are going to happen tonight with trick or treaters. I am hoping that they don't start ringing the doorbell until after his test and shot at 6:15pm.

At least tricker treaters is one thing I don't have to worry about. Most kids here do the big mass stuff the town puts on plus we are far enough out very few venture this far. And the ones in the "hood" have parents that are afraid we will be handing out kittens I think. lol

Handing out kittens? There's a treat!

No trick or treaters here either, been years and years. Last I had was back in early 90's in a small residential neighborhood. Now days, kids only go out in really 'good' areas. Back when we had them, my female Golden loved it! She would get petted by ever kid and in between, she'd stand with her paws on the window sill looking for the next bunch to come. If it took more than a couple minutes, she'd bark at me "Make them come momma!" She had such a ball, it was worth the $10 in candy just to watch her reaction to them. Then again, we always said she'd starve to death as long as you petted her. She'd never leave you to go eat!

Trick or treaters are very new to me. In the apartment I lived in for 30 years, I could buy a bag of candy and maybe get one kid at my door. Not worth it. Better to sit in the dark. But then I bought a house three years ago in a family-rich county and bought three bags of candy that went fast. I must have seen about 75 kids. Then when I thought it was over - the teenagers came and I had to tell them I was out of candy so they TPd my tree. It was really pretty and I was very flattered but I felt bad for them. This year I have five bags (originally 6 bags but you know how that goes when you buy ahead) of caramel tootsie pops.

I expect since my civvies will be in hiding that Alska will probably share greeting duties with me. He likes to take advantage of these situations and he is not afraid of visitors.

Debbie, your Golden sounds so precious!!! They are the most loving dogs aren't they.

There is no other dog with the personality of a Golden. Knowing I'll have to get something else when I get another dog, breaks my heart, but it's too physically demanding for me to have another one. Unless I was living with my son (In-law suite/nanny LOL) and he'd agree to do the bathing, etc, Then I'd gladly get another one. I'd go for the Golden rescue in Raleigh. They only rescue Goldens and golden mixes. Whatever I get, of course, will be a rescue, from an organisation. I can't go to a shelter, it makes me cry cause I can't take them all home.

If I could just win the Lottery!!! I'd do like my aunt did, bought 65 acres in the mountains and had her own rescue. Last time I saw her, she had 21 dogs and 27 cats. :-D She was the counties only animal protection officer and the reason that dog fighting is now a felony in the state of TN. GO AUNTIE!! She did a lot of good work in the last 20 yrs of her life. Miss that lady, she was the best. She used to laugh that they lived off beans and cornbread, because all her money went for pet food and vet care. If not for her garden, they'd have had a hard time. She said she'd go hungry before her babies would. I know that feeling. :-D So many stories she told me about her animal rescues. She had to take the sheriff with her to pick up an animal. On one trip where an old mean woman was neglecting and abusing a dog, he told my aunt "you cannot drag this woman out of her house and beat the hell out of her, we'll get the dog and go." He knew how she was. On this particular trip, she DID want to hurt that woman!

See? There's another problem with the living with son idea. I really wanted a place of my own so I could take in a rescue or 2 or ??.

I would have loved your Aunt!!! My parents found a woman who did the same thing in PA. She had over 600 cats and when my parents had any money to donate, they sent it to her. It may have only been about $50 a year but they did it for 15 years.
