I would have liked to see a food spike here. Did you feed her a little more LC?

I'm sorry she's getting tired of the tests but my guess is she's going to get several more today. With the +1 without a spike, we absolutely must get a +2, ok? I'll see you in an hour.

oops - didn't see your post until after I'd given her the food.
Probably a large tsp (a bit less than .5 FF can)

It's ok. She just might need food later in the cycle to bring her up and I don't want her full. I should have defined "little more" :lol:

I think you are going to be doing some testing today. That's not a big drop but it's close enough to 149 that you might see a typical lantus curve.

Can you get a +3 please? I hope she's ok...are you using Neosporin with Pain Relief Ointment on her ears after the pokes and alternating ears?

I think its the sock that bothers her most!

I may have a problem at +3 - I'm supposed to be on a call with work.
I can do earlier - in 25 mins or about 30 mins late.

Hi Denise. I believe you'll find Honey will get use to being stuck after a while. I always give PurrFace a freeze dried treat after each shot as a reward. He looks forward to it. Actually his 2 civvie companions sit by the treat jar as soon as they see me get the testing supplies so they won't miss out. What size lancet are you using? I started for the first couple of days with a 26 gauge but then was able to go to a 30 or 31 gauge when I can find them. Do you stick her "free hand" or use the lancet tool? I found be doing it free hand I can get the point at a better angle and more or less just go under her skin. With the lancet tool you almost have to hold it straight up and if it's not adjusted properly it will stick right through her ear. It's not going to cause her harm but I'm sure it's a bit more of a jolt. After you have been testing her for a while see if you can get blood without the sock. After a while PurrFace's ears got use to bleeding and now I don't need the sock. He hated the sock. I just rub his ear gently to get it warm and stick. I also found the closer to the edge I can get the less he minds it, another reason I free hand the lancet. Any way that's a few pointers I've picked up since being here and they might work for you. Don't get discouraged you'll do fine and you have great teachers. Have a great evening.

Honey isn't much of a lap cat - she prefers to keep to herself with the odd bit of petting.
The treat works well but she gobbles it up so fast that I do it in 2 stages: a bit to calm her while I do the sock and the 2nd bit after the poke.
I tried freehand to begin with but couldn't get it - maybe I'll try again now I'm better at poking.

I think she just needs a bit of a rest - I was poking every hour today.

You should be able to take a couple hours off of poking with this number at PMPS. If you can get a +2 and its higher than the PS, you can give her longer.
