Happy "Hump Day" everyone !

This morning finds Monet doing well . . . 4 P's in place and acting very normal.
I did not give him a shot last night (PMBG 130) or this morning (AMBG 130).

Trying to find syringes for U100 that have the half unit marked so, if need be, I can shoot at .25. Hopefullly will be able to get those today.
I'm assuming with his numbers under 150 that I definitely don't need to be giving him insulin ???

Hope all have a fabulous day and all kitties get great BG numbers today !

Most of us get our syringes online. Walmart's Relion syringes do come in half units although, you might want to call ahead. Sometimes they're not in stock or you need to get the pharmacy people to look for them or order them.

Hi Rise and extra sweet Monet!

Monet's numbers are looking pretty darn good for so soon! Looks like feeding only low carb foods has made a big difference! I have to think that the only reason Monet didn't have a full blown hypo when you were giving 3 units was because of the high carb food he was still getting. You were very lucky on the 10th that you didn't end up in a heartbreaking situation...40 on an AlphaTrak is a 10 on our human meters!

You might want to try dropping his dose to .25 (and for this, you DO need the 1/2 unit marked syringes..I just got some at WalMart yesterday for $12.98) Monet is getting some good numbers, but we'd like to see him getting even better ones...as well as finding a dose you can safely give every 12 hours.

No matter what, it looks like Monet might not be interested in staying on insulin very long :-D

Here's what .25 looks like:

Hello Chris & China ...

You just made me cry reading your post on how close we came to losing Monet when his BG dropped to 40... OMG I did not realize just how bad this was especially being a 10 on a human BG meter !

You were one of the first people that responded to my first post on Oct 23 giving me life saving advice for Monet !
I will forever the grateful for you and all the others that are helping me through this.

To be honest some days I feel a bit guilty even posing asking for help since so many kitties are not doing as well as I think Monet is. What one member told me is that questions I post as a new member will help other new members when they have the same questions. I have been going back looking at condos when members were new and this has been very valuable to me.

Someone said to me that u guys on this board become like family and I can definitely see where that would be true !

Hope you and China have a terrific evening !

Re: 10/30/2013 Monet AMBG 134

We're all here to help each other Rise. When China was diagnosed, I came here just like you did, scared, confused and not knowing the first thing about treating diabetes. Others here helped to teach me how to deal with it, what I needed to do (and what not to do) as well as holding my hand through our first few really low numbers. I'm just "paying it forward" to you!

No need to feel guilty! Not only is Monet just as deserving of our time as anyone else is, he's a great example of how much of a difference diet changes can make! As you go along in this adventure, you'll probably see newbies posting and asking the same questions you did, having the same fears and concerns, and wondering if they can do it. You can cheer them on and tell them how well Monet has done!

Sometimes, just knowing someone else has been there and been successful is the best advice you can offer

Re: 10/30/2013 Monet AMBG 134

Chris, forgot to thank u for the pic of the syringe. My husband bought some today at Costco but they did not have the 1/2 unit marking so we are going to have to return those. Our local Walmart did not have them so we are calling pharmacies tomorrow to try and find them.

That's just weird...My WalMart had them in two gauges..30's and 31's....You might want to go and look for yourself. We've heard some others say that their WalMart said no, but when they asked to look at the syringes, guess what?...LOL

Good luck on your syringe hunt!

Hi Rise-

Call Sams pharmacy. That is where i got mine and I think they usually have them. (you do not have to be a member to use the pharmacy)

I have heard at Walmart that some techs aren't aware that they do in fact have some with the 1/2 unit markings. So maybe call again and ask for the pharmacist and/or with the model number to clarify. If for some reason not, then like Sienne said they can order for you. You may be able to order yourself and have shipped to store next day even.

Hi Betty and Hank...thanks for the info on SAMs. Will call today to see if they have them in stock, if not will just find them somewhere online. Only thing is when I look on line none of them say they have the 1/2 markings???

Hope you and Hank have a GREAT day!
