I tried to keep Max above 70 last night with 9% food and he was still there at +6.5 so I think I succeeded. He woke up hungry and ate his baby food and part of his ff 3%. I think I will give him some 9% at +2 if he is still un blue numbers. I really want to avoid another dive and bounce so soon if at all possible.

I'm sending prayers to my cyber friend in New York that I met through our cats' experience with lymphoma and pancreatitis. We both lost one cat. Now hers had surgery and chemo for lung cancer that it looks like was unsuccessful and she will probably lose a courageous fight within a couple of hours. I am so sad for her. Cancer is always my fear as I lost both of my other cats to it. Please send prayers to my friend and her beautiful tuxedo MaryAnne.

Happy New Year and a safe fast for those who observe Yom Kippur tonight and tomorrow. Thinking of all beans and kitties in crisis right now.

Well, we are heading in the wrong direction or holding steady since the food spike if it's meter variance. It can't be another bounce, can it? :roll:

Nice job keeping Max surfing. Hopefully this is not a bounce and just a food spike that's taking a while to clear...right, Max? You don't want to bounce again, do you? Come on down now, Sweetie.

Hi Tricia. Thanks. Max will hopefully surf the rest of the day.

My friend lost her kitty this morning. It's so sad. After the surgery and chemo the prognosis was years. She didn't even get more than a few months. This kitty actually peed a heart in her litter box last week.

My mom is hurting a lot. Earlier my sister was worried the lack of movement would lead to hear failure again. I just called back and they gave her a pain pill and she got dressed and is going to get her hair done. I hope the pain pills get her moving as that is what her heart needs right now.

Max is making more of those noises. After what happened to my friend's cat I am scared. It's a good thing I am taking him to the vet Monday. I'm praying it is nothing much and my imagination.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom not feeling better- what kind of pain meds did they give her? That is good that she could get her hair done though. I'm keeping her and Max in my prayers! We know all is right in the world when my mom goes to get her hair done! This was a nice blue slide for Max I see- I can never tell which is a food spike or which is a mini bounce! You would think 2 hours after the shot is not a food spike, but what the heck do I know!

Sorry to hear about the other kitty with lymphoma, that's a hard one to beat.

Ruth, for Max the onset of Lantus is often +2.5-3 hours after injection. I'm not sure why. So he can go up as much as 60 or more points before coming down. That is why I rarely test at +1 and often not before +2.5.
