Re: 10/3 Kazi AMPS: 119

Hi Amanda

quickee question....do you do a +8 or +9 snack (both cycles)?

Good luck with the new dose!

I don't do a snack... she gets her breakfast within minutes of us being up for the day. Most days I don't walk in the door from work until almost +10. My schedule is so crazy the 2 feedings is the best I can do on a continual basis. She is also a snob and only readily eats 'fresh' food. I am off Tues...I may try it for the PM just to see what it does to her numbers though.

Re: 10/3 Kazi AMPS: 119

Hmmm.... Generally, when a kitty is this close to an OTJ trial, we really encourage a snack at around +8 or +9. It stimulates the pancreas to produce endogenous insulin and it brings down the pre-shot numbers. Do you think there's a chance that Kazi would eat from a timed feeder? I don't get up at 2 AM to give Gabby her PM cycle snack. (Of course, I have no idea what time she eats it but I'm anticipating that it's closer to when the feeder opens than AMPS.) In any event, it's a thought.

Re: 10/3 Kazi AMPS: 119

Is this something that must be continued if she does go off the juice? I am just thinking ahead to logistics with another cat and 3 dogs running around - the more meals we have the better the chance someone else will swipe it. ohmygod_smile Any brands you recommend?

usually when a pancreas is newly functioning, frequent small meals are much easier on it than larger meals. So it's possible that it would help her to continue the extra meals for a little while after she goes OTJ. Each cat is different, for some it doesn't make much difference.

When I look at Kazi's spreadsheet, I see sooooo much green, but then blue at preshots. In this case, most likely a small snack at +8 or +9 will stimulate the pancreas to bring the number down for PS.

This is the feeder I have: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... Id=2751315

Or they have a 2-door one: http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... Id=2751313
