Good morning everyone,

Butch bounced AMPS 257, today was a pink day!

Last night was another rough night with little sleep. Butch dived at the +1.5 64, so I started to feed snacks 12% but it wasn't raising his BG +3 53. I was concerned since it was so early in the cycle if I stopped given snacks he would drop. I then added some 24% snack (every 20 minutes) but no rise. His bg remained in the 50s on the Libre. A +4 test Libre 56/Contour Next 82. Finally, at the +6 125 (2:30 AM). :blackeye: Butch ate 2 FF cans 12% & 24%. That's a lot!

I don't understand why the 24% hc didn't bring up his bg. It has in the past o_O Not sure if all the carbs contributed to his bounce too. Advise needed? @tiffmaxee @Bandit's Mom @Angela & Cleo @Wendy&Neko @Christie & Maverick

Wishing everyone a wonderful day and surf safely!

Hi Madeline, I’m so sorry to hear you had a rough night with Butch. Ouch :banghead:

I’m always interested to see how much people feed their cats when they are low.
I tend to only use a half of a teaspoon or 1 tsp at a time, sometimes every 30 minutes or sometimes every hour depending on how fast she’s diving.

It seems like you are feeding upwards of two cans overnight. I truly don’t know what is the right answer or not. I guess every cat is different, ECID.

I only use 12% since that’s what I have in my arsenal since I make her food and don’t use canned food. I could always add a drop of Karo if I really wanted to bump things up. But I try to avoid using Karo if I can help it. (I would though if needed)

Maybe post with a ? So that you get some answers. Then people know you are looking for more information.

I hope you and Butch have a more stable day and tonight and you can get some rest. I’m sure that you need it.:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you, Staci!
I usually would give a 1/2 to tsp of 12% & 24%. It would bring him up and I have to continue till it raised and he stood steady. Last night his numbers would not rise, and I was feeding 2 tsp snacks at a time. It did make me little nervous that I wasn't seeing any increase in his bg.
On the Contour Next, he was 82, so he was stable. I just didn't want him to drop any more in the cycle especially that the carbs weren't bringing him up.

Todays bounced allowed me to get some errands and work. Hoping tonight he comes down calmly into the blues for some much needed rest.

I see Ivy came down into the blues today  :)
I hope she's feeling better with her tummy too!
Wishing you both a wonderful night with lots of rest. Safe surfing, Ivy!

Hi Madeline,
I’m glad you got to recover yesterday and hope Butch had a gentle slide down. I really hope you both got some rest last night!

Ivy also bounced so I got some rest. Thank goodness for that.

I’m sorry you didn’t get any answers to your questions about feeding and why Butch wasn’t responding to the higher carbs.

I might suggest that you copy and paste this question in your post today and tag the same people again to see if you can get some answers so you are prepared for the next time it happens.
And again post with a question mark and put a little bit of information in your headline like “carb question”

I hope this helps and you both have a safe day :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Staci,
Yes, Butch slid down gently, and we both got some rest last night. I glad you were able to get some rest too!
It's funny how we do not want to see them in the high numbers but after a crazy active cycle a bounce can be a bit of a relief.

AMPS was blue and he calmly surfed blue and green this far. I fed tsp 6% snack +1 & +2 and tsp 12% snack +3.

Thank you for your help. It is much appreciated!

Hope you both are having a good day. Surf safely, Ivy! :bighug::cat::bighug:
