Boris spent the w/e home with us and we spent the time lovin on him and trying to get enough calories in him. He needs about 200cal/day. We never met that I'm afraid to say and we offered food every 2 hours - trying everything. Saturday he ate 140 cals and Sunday - 120cals. Today we had a "tech" appt for a bld draw and what I "thought" was a possible look at having a feeding tube. He is alot weaker today. It's so hard to watch. Sunday AM I increased his dose to 0.75u bid - testing alot. we are back into the "blues" today.

Our IM vet is excellant but at times not so personal. But the tech (nurse) is WONDERFUL and really fights for her patients and clients. She knew how worried I was about Boris. Sadly after the Dr examined him she never wanted to see me today. She feels he's like this because of the "lymphoma" and there is nothing she can do. When she heard I had increased dose to 0.75u and what his numbers were she was reported to say "well obviously he needs 1u". I think because I didn't follow her directions she was a little upset with me. I don't care really but hey - he got 1 u last week and seized when I got home. If you look at his numbers he's been working his way down ever since I went to 0.75 and he's not eating great either so I'm not going to go to 1 u now! And if there IS nothing else to do for Boris - that's ok too - but please help me understand what is going on. I'm trying to make the right decision for him - I don't want to torture him - only keep him comfortable and do the right thing by him.

So I have brought him home and gave him some subq fluids. He has hardly eaten today. Maybe he is telling me - I'm so sad but I don't want him suffering either. tomorrow we see the oncologist who is very sweet, compassionate. I have all the lab, cytology reports and it says that this is a lymphoma that "could be responsive to treatment". I will hope for the best thru the nite with Boris.

But some wonderful news - Fiona did GREAT with surgery and the surgeon was also very compassionate. They let me have an empty exam room today so I could have Boris in there with litter box, food etc while we waited for news on Fiona. When the surgeon saw Boris even he was very sweet towards him. They let me in to see her while they settled her after surgery. She has a chest tube and continuous pain meds. She was still quite groggy but oh my - she looked wonderful to me. Just to see her "awake" and alive and she's going to be coming home with me. Makes me so happy.

Oh I know this is awfully long but thank you sooo much for listening to me and being here for all of my kitties. thank you!

I've been thinking of you and praying for your babies today. I'm so happy to hear things went well with Fiona. YAY!!! What a good, strong girl....I hope she gets home soon.

I hope the oncologist will have some good news for you tomorrow. I know it is so hard....believe me, I know. We are all here for you and holding you close in heart with extra prayers that today is a low point for Boris and tomorrow and all subsequent days will see him gradually returning to better health. I'm glad you stuck up for the lower dose!!!

((((Patti)))) I do hope that Boris will begin to eat better and that he will make a recovery. We are thinking of you and your kitties and sending lots and lots of healing vines, prayers, and positive thoughts. I'm very glad that Fiona's surgery went well. Please don't get discouraged about Boris. You are doing all you can and Boris knows that.

Many hugs to you all,

Ella & Rusty

I'm hoping that Boris will begin to respond and start to feel better. I'm so glad Fiona did well. It's so hard to watch when they don't feel well. You are in my thoughts.

Sending healing thoughts to Boris, and hugs to you. I hope the little guy starts feeling better and recovers.

Will be saying prayers for a good visit with the oncologist tomorrow. (((hugs))) So glad to hear things went well with Fiona. As for Boris, trust your instincts. You know what you're doing.

I just wanted to let you know I have been thinking about you a lot the last few days, as well as praying for you, Boris and Fiona.

If you need anything, please let me know. You have my number and e-mail. *HUGS*

Also, if you need 'em, I still have a few bags of sub-q fluids left. I've kept them.. just in case I or someone I know needed them. I can drive them down if you want/need them.

So much love to you and your babies. <3

Have you joined the lymphoma group? Antinausea medication and pain meds are a must I believe.

You can get a naso gastric tube for temporary assistance. About a week to three weeks max. Allows for a fluid diet of clinicare to get strength up. Its 25% carbs though.

My thoughts are with you and Boris. I wish for his recovery so he can be with you a long time. On the Feline Assisted Feeding Yahoo group a number of cats with lymphoma live for many years. I don't know much about the disease though.

Great news about Fiona!

Still thinking of you and all your kitties every day, here.

And sending prayers, healing thoughts, and 'be strong' vibrations southward to you.

Boris, I love you. Patti & Joe will take the best possible care of you.
Be strong, little man, and fight.

((((((Patti)))))) what a great report on Fiona may her recovery go well and we are sending lots of healing vines and snowflakes for both of them and support for their great Bean

so glad fiona came through her surgery well - and prayers for your boris. i don't know anything about lymphoma, but hope you're getting some good help from the oncologist today. we'll be waiting for a report.

i think it's a good thing that you're "retired" so you could take care of your furry little ones!

I'm glad to hear that Fiona is doing well after surgery and that she seems like herself. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
I'm sad to hear that Boris isn't doing well. I hope you have a good discussion with the Oncologist and they are helpful. Keeping you and your crew in my thoughts today.

Oh Patti. You have had so much to deal with lately. I know Boris is fortunate to be in such loving hands as yours. I hope the oncologist today will find a way to help you and Boris have more time together.
