Trix's flatness continues to amaze me. And, she is in super-duper lovey dovey kitty mode, which the MamaBean needs.

I have a vetty appointment for Noah tonight. He's just not eating well at all. I actually have a feeling that, this time around, something is going on in his mouth, be it a bad tooth or an ulcer or what have you. He seems to want to eat, but when he tries, he's definitely dropping a lot of food, flicking his tongue and generally seeming uncomfortable about it. After a few bites, he gives up, and I have noticed that he stops after he seems to have a particularly uncomfortable bite. Last night, I tried to offer him FortiFlora-embellished wet food...no go. He's a kibblehead to the core. I also remember this morning that he does have the calici virus in his system, and I know that mouth ulcers are one of the symptoms. I wonder if the ER visit could have triggered something. Aside from his eating issue, he really seems like his normal self...social, bright-eyed, feisty. I don't know...I'm worried. I wish I didn't have to work and was able to get him in before 8:00 tonight. Big sigh.

I hope all will be well with Noah. It does sounds like a mouth issue. I wish I knew more about that kind of stuff. I hope the vetty visit will offer a solution. Poor Noah! Be better little one.

Thanks for the visits and vines for Noah. Right before I got in the shower, he came and got me at the computer. I was hoping he'd want to eat, but he just wanted to be social and play! Argh. That does help me a lot, though, knowing that he seems to feel good, though.

I have to teach a class now...and am sooooo not focused.

I am so sorry Noah isn't eating well and making you so worried.

Is it possible that he doesn't like some particular ingredients in his food?
When Lucy was eating Hypoallergenic vet food, one day she decided she didn't like the bits of rice in the foods.
And there were lots of small bits (about 1/3 grain) of rice in it, and she could feel them in her mouth because of the different texture from the rest of pate.
She used to drop those rice bits by flicking her tongue and shaking her head, which she still does with the potato bits in Wellness.
At first, I thought she was just being a messy eater because I didn't really notice that all the spitted out bits had rice in them.
But she eventually let me know that she was spitting them on purpose by growling at me when I picked them up and offered to her.

We are back from the vetty. God, I hate going there...

Noah checked out pretty good at the vet. His weight is down a bit from when he was at the ER 2 weeks ago, but it's also been a rollercoaster with his food issues, too. The vet said his mouth is beautiful...hardly any tartar, no gingivitis, no masses, no ulcerations....a gold star for a 10 year old cat. So, I guess I was wrong in thinking it was something in his mouth, and maybe he does have some nausea for some reason. He did have a full blood panel two weeks ago at the ER, but they didn't check his thyroid or urine, so we did both of those tonight - results will be back in 24-48 hours. She did say his urine is well concentrated. Temperature, normal. Palpations of the abdomen were fine.

Sooooo...they gave him another shot of cerenia and some fluids, and sent us home with oral cerenia and cypro, should we need them. We're in a holding pattern, to see if this was just one of his phases...and he HAS been known to do this in the past, but I was just extra concerned about the vomiting he had a few weeks ago.

If the rollercoaster continues, the next step would be an ultrasound to evaluate possible IBD or p-titis. He has had digestive issues all his life, and maybe things are progressing a bit.

Here's the kicker...as soon as we got home, he frikken' chowed down...ate more than he had eaten in the last day or two. If he had only done that at dinner time, we could have skipped this whole appointment. (It's probably the cerenia kicking in.) He's running around the house like his usual crazy happy cat self...so whatever this is, maybe it's settling out again. He did eat a little at dinner, and at that point, he did seem better about it than he was earlier.

I dunno...he's an enigma. FOrtunately, I'm off tomorrow, so I can spend the day "bonding" with him!

Yay for eating! :-D :-D :-D Cerenia sure helps Zener. We are giving it to Tillie now too. There is a pill form that is easier and cheaper than the shots. And yay for Trixie's beautiful cycles! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Sometimes, I think our civvies get jealous of all the attention our sugar kitties get so they figure out what will get our attention riveted on them. Of course, it figures that Noah eats once you spend all that time at the vet!

She did give us some cerenia pills, too, in case we need them. I'm sure they are way more expensive at the vet's than online, but at least we have a stock for now.

We agree...we definitely see some jealousy issues here. And, Noah did this once before, years ago...took him to the vet because he wasn't eating well, got home, and boom....a hungry kitty! Crazy cats...

Hi Amy - I'm glad all checked out ok for Noah. Hope the labs come back too. And of course he wolfs it down when you get home... silly cat. I ohpe things will continue that way today too. Chow down Noah!
 
I missed your update last night. I'm so glad everything checked out ok and that Noah decided to eat when you got home. Even better that he was running around like his silly self. ((((Amy))))
