Good day:)
I'm so glad I got those pansies in the ground yesterday; it's dreary and raining/misty and too cool for the way I've been dressing. It's 44 degrees and barely going up today. I asked for the heat to leave, but this isn't what I meant! It's fun getting the winter clothes out - winter here usually means sweatshirts and sweaters. But coats do become necessary at times:smuggrin:

Today will be my first attempt to give subcutaneous fluids without any assistance. Paws crossed it will go smoothly and Tina won't try to run off. I'll catch her when she's lazy and nappy feeling - with this weather, it should be easy just about any time. All the cats are cuddling up in blankets now with this cooler weather.

Make it a great day human beans, and kitty cats - don't forget it's National Cat Day:cat::cat::cat::cat::cat::cat: The cats aren't forgetting;)

Are you still feeding a +9 snack?

It was +8.5 last night; I woke up on the couch at that time; I was sleeping next to Tina. I have been wobbly with the exact time, but more consistent with +8. I have also missed some tests at snack time, just not to poke her again.
Please get me in line, seriously! Should I stick to +9 - I was thinking +8 might work better seeing that it had been working in the AMPS cycle, but I completely trust you. I set an alarm, so 3am or 4am doesn't really matter. Even though I might eventually like to quit getting up at 3 or 4am (+8 or 9), I just don't want to put Tina in a room by herself with the auto-feeder.

Typically, it’s about three hours for the food to affect the BG. It if you are seeing it works better for her to do it @ +8, that’s fine.

I understand....I got up for a while to give Gracie a +9 snack and it’s exhausting if you could otherwise be sleeping.

But I am getting quite used to it actually, and don't mean to complain;) I have mastered going right back to sleep!

Thank you Marje, and we always thank Gracie too:):cat:

Thank you Sonia! Done!! I'm just glad I had help the first several times, but we did well on our own - yippee!
I'm impressed, Jan ❤️ DH is the SQ man around here ...and the insulin man as well . I do it too but if he's here it's his part . My ace in the hole is that I nursed our old bird dog thru cancer years ago . Loved that lug of a dog ❤️❤️❤️❤️ But I believe that's where I earned kitty brownie points for life even tho caring for Hank was a labor of love ❤️

I'm glad you were able to get your pansies in the ground Jan! Nice to have a little bright color before the snow flies. I hear you on getting up late to test Tina...but she rewards you for it with her beautiful blues and greens! I have one color in mind - the color of the highway as it rolls out in front of us in a few days - and no more sweats or sweaters for me. I gather from the forecast that we'll be back in shorts, tank tops and my fashionable flip flops soon - ha...I hate wearing real shoes now...I can hardly stand to put them on for the coldest days here...but I look like a food wearing flip flops and fur...ha! Just doesn't work!

Have a lovely evening!

Teamwork is a beautiful thing, just like going it alone CAN be great too! The support here helps so much. My second cataract surgery on Oct 11 started off so bad, because a nurse said once subqs are needed, it's time to say goodbye; that was after telling me his own sister, Jan, had passed. It's good to hear all perspectives, but timing right before surgery and his lack of knowing particulars about my cat was just rotten. All I had to do was run back here for help and support; Tina is doing marvelous too. Rolling all around like she hadn't done in months, and running through the house! Hopping up and down instead of using the pet steps.
Ahh Beth, my current Springer Spaniel (5) got labeled "bird dog" at his first vet visit. My first Springer passed from bone marrow cancer at just 7.
Bless you dear Beth - pets are such little heartbreakers and heart fixers and heart stealers aren't they;):bighug:

Have a lovely evening!
Still raining . . . I love winter flowers to help put some cheer around! I wear walking sandals almost year round. Right now, sweater, sports pants (I only wear jeans 98% of the time), and my walking flip flops!! Strapped sandals started itching my feet! I put full shoes on when it gets under about 35-40:) The trend around here is hoodie sweat shirts and shorts! Sometimes with cowboy boots:joyful: Mostly it's the younger gals dressing like that!
The 3, 6, and 6:45am alarms are working!! I was so tired last night I just slept on the couch with Tina so I wouldn't need that first alarm, ha!! Real happy for you heading to Florida - warm happy times! I keep wondering about Luci - is all this good with her?

Oh yes! Luci LOVES her condo! It's all on one level - not like the house in Michigan - she 'gallops' the full length of the place when she gets the zoomies...and wants to go out on her lanai all the time! She thinks we bought it for her...
Sue - all of that I remember now and I was loving it for Luci. But my persistent thoughts keep up about worrying about Luci every time I see you prepping to leave -- Thank goodness I had two short naps today, and plan on lots more rest.
Friday is my hair appt to pick colorful highlights:cool::p Since I'm 58, I'm not overdoing it . . . live in a pretty conservative town. But seriously, I want a little wild, since my eyes are super young again and I can even wear eye makeup. I think my dad will get a kick out of it too.
TINA thinks pink for her gender, and blue for her eyes:)

@Marje and Gracie - you were RIGHT about Tina not getting her insulin two nights ago - I just found the syringe in the pantry right next to the "chicken dust" I added to her food, before I was to give her shot. Now her numbers make more sense and I like things that make sense - thank you. She had gone up a little already that day, and I messed things up more. But she's doing well pretty fast again:)
I'm ready for a long cuddly night with my kitty you have helped - forever grateful for your subq video.

I'm a tad older than you and I have blue highlights in my hair. Life is short Jan! It's your hair! Enjoy! And if you're afraid of making the commitment - get some of those colored hair extensions and clip them on ... try them out for size and see what people say - if you love it, then you can make it permanent. Look at these with lots of colors to test! https://www.amazon.com/Extensions-H...ries/dp/B07K3TDFST/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20

Mine is permanent - dark blue underneath the blond. I love it! Not the first thing you see when I enter the room, but they notice...most people like it!

Very nice color and subtle enough too! I really like your hair and I might start with what you have, then add pink highlights to the blonde on top. I'll look at lots of pictures before I go, and likely not even start with anything temporary:D
Love your words of wisdom Sue. Life is short indeed - and our own to live. I just keep wishing I'd get to that age where I quit worrying what other people think. I'm getting a lot closer;) After I survived a drunk driver hitting me head on 3 years ago, I'm even braver, lol!

Tina is grooming the dog!!

Oh I love it when I’m right!!! :p:p:woot::woot::woot: I’m glad things are going well with the subq fluids. It’s our sweet Gussie’s legacy that he has helped hundreds of cats and their parents. I did have to laugh about finding the syringe in the pantry. At least you know why it’s there.

Once when Gracie was still alive and I was a zombie, my DH called while I was out by the pool pump because it was making funny noises. When I got done talking to him, I set the phone down to go check on something else in the backyard and then went back into the house. Later, I couldn’t find that darn phone anywhere. I finally retraced my steps and found it on the woodpile (for the outdoor fireplace) which is near the pool pump. DH has never let me forget that one. Whenever I lose something, he says, “did you check the woodpile?”. Haha funny not funny.
