Good Morning LL! Tess had 2 absolutely classic curves yesterday! That's right, Tess! since DH has been gone I have had a cuddle cat every night. Unfortunately, where she likes to cuddle is on my chest. After a while that 9lbs. gets heavy. Three days in a row now there has been an absolutely gorgeous sunrise over the foothills. During the summer there is usually fog and we get neither sunrise or sunset.

WCR All 5 Ps today, keeping track and letting me know what needs to be done in the morning. She has the schedule down pat. Get those fuds out, mom!

Yesterday I got sucked into the black hole of comparing food values again. I called several companies and found As Fed values for others online. Brief recap:
  • --Purina Pro Plan, very helpful, Chicken Entree - Chunky 7.6%, Turkey & Giblets 6.5% & Chicken & Liver Entree =1.7% (what they gave me added up to 100.6%, I'll have to call back anyway since I forgot to get Calcium and Phosphorus values)
--Taste of the Wild not as bad as I though at 14% for a MC
--Whiskas Traysuseless, could not understand the difference between GA and As Fed or that you cannot add min/max numbers and agt an aurate result. She got frustrated w/ me and finally said that if your cat has health problems, you probably shouldn't feed this food!
--EVO has nutritional analysis on the website, these numbers calculate to about 2% higher than J&B list shows
--Wellness Grain Free has nutritional analysis on the website, these numbers now calculate to 0%!!! ED. It was early, forgot moisture numbers needed checking, very close to list.
--Wellness Healthy Indulgence pouches nutritional analysis not on the website, I need to call.
--Felidae has nutritional analysis on the website, these numbers calculate to Grain Free Cat & Kitten 6.8%, Grain Free Salmon 4.1% and Platinum 5.9%

I have converted J&B's calculator to a regular SS so the calculations can be saved in rows. I'll try to attach it to my signature, but I'm ising a Mac w/ iWor's Numbers and don't know how well the formulas will convert to Excel. I can also make it a PDF. I've got a few more companies to call today too.

Re: 10/29 Tess AMPS~153 +2~180 +3:30~132

Great info Ann - some food on there I was definitely curious about, like the Whiskas trays and the Felidae...oh, and the Wellness pouches! Tess is looking good today!

Re: 10/29 Tess AMPS~153 +2~180 +3:30~132

very nice on all that research. I know I appreciate it! I hope you can figure out how to attach it your signature. great work!

and yes - nice classic curves for Tess. Looks like she nay make green today too. Love the cuddle cat - she misses her dad.

Hey Tess - Buzz is really sick -maybe we should see if we can go and visit her. You wanna try? ~~ Mannie

Re: 10/29 Tess AMPS~153 +2~180 +3:30~132 +5:30~115

A new pattern is emerging for Tess. A normal Lantus cycle! She has been taking her time finish her food lately, but eventually she does eat most of it. I worry about getting enough calories into her. I know the minimum for a 9 lb. cat is 135 kcal, I try to get her to eat her between 150 and 200.

I didn't get BTB this morning and need a nap, but there are trees to be watered, saffron stamens to harvest and pots to be made.

great surf Tess and thanks for the food info Ann I am always looking for other things to try for Do Lou

Ann

Glad to see Tess back to normal!!! Thanks for giving me some encouragement on our condo today. It helps...I use you and Tess as our inspiration since, as you said, Tess takes a few cycles to see improvement. Look at her now on her new dose!!

Thanks so much for getting this info. I am SO bummed about EVO! I've been thinking the chicken/liver was 0% and the beef 2%! Now the chicken is 2% and the beef is 4%...the latter being more than I want Gracie to have. Good info about the Wellness Core...I'm not sure how much Gracie will like that but I'm going to try it for her. So frustrating trying to get the info on these foods.

I never heard back from Feline Futures...and they don't have a phone number to contact them at...so that is rather frustrating, too. If they've changed their formula then I don't know if they have changed their ingredient numbers.

I got new info from BY NATURE on their as-fed values and using Janet's calculator, found that their 95% beef/liver and 95% chicken/chicken liver is 4% calories from carbs  while their organic formulas are 3%.

Re: 10/29 Tess AMPS~153 +2~180 +3:30~132 +5:30~115 +9~170

Still blue, but no need to go any higher my dear. I hope the +9 snack will help to slow her down.

I goofed on the Wellness in my first post, it is still the same as J&B's list. It was early and i forgot I had to call to double check the moisture because it wasn't on the AS Fed list on the website.

I am attaching the SS in excel format here, Let me know if it works for you. If it does I'll put it in my signature. One thing to note, some foods are from the GA numbers on the cans. If it is in bold all the way across those are from the As Fed numbers from the companies. In some instances I left the GA numbers below for a comparison, they are in italics.

Re: 10/29 Tess AMPS~153 +2~180 +3:30~132 +5:30~115 +9~170

my god you have been busy! That chart is fantastic! I know for me I appreciate more than I can say all the time you put into this. Usually I can figure these hings out, but I struggle with J&B's cheat sheet, and I can't even get that to work... Must be doing something wrong :? anyways - works great - I had no problem opening is up. I hope you can attach it to your signature. THANK YOU ANN!

I love Tess's numbers today - classic curve yet again. I know you'd probably like them lower, but even still - looks great. How long has she been on the new dose?

have a great night!

Re: 10/29 Tess AMPS~153 PMPS~150

No greens, but not too bad a day, except I didn't get a nap!

Michelle, Basically I took Janet's excel calculator and move and adjusted the formulas to go across a row instead of the way she had it this way I can keep my results now. The problem with posting it is that anyone that downloads it need to know what to do to enter new data for themselves. New rows don't automatically contain the formulas. You have to remember to add them in when you create new rows. Do you think I should just post it as a PDF. That might be easier.

Re: 10/29 Tess AMPS~153 PMPS~150

i gotta agree with all that's been said above, ann...HOW DO YOU DO IT ??

loved your post in binks condo...(he is sweet, but he's also a little devil like stitch!)

looks like tess sympathizes on you're not getting a nap...

and re; the perfect curves... (my goodness...i searched "jessica rabbit", and you wouldnt believe the things that came up  )
in the interests of decency..i chose this instead...

Re: 10/29 Tess AMPS~153 PMPS~150 +2~65

Hi Ann - Maybe on the pdf? I wonder - might be easier, yes. I wonder how many would actually go to the "trouble" to enter the formulas on the excel??? I am also so used to excel though that that format doesn't bother me. I use it for alot of stuff. I do prefer the horizontal layout - you are right, easier to enter yours one row after another, then you can have many entries. How do you find the time to do all this stuff? Amazing!

and Tess - nice +2!

Hey Tess - we are both green!!! Let's go night surfin'! ~~ Mannie

Re: 10/29 Tess AMPS~153 PMPS~150 +2~65

Oh, my! she snubbed the first dinner, but scarfed the second. It was a fresh can of course. Looks like a long night, I should have taken that nap.

Just finished waxing my board. -- KK

Re: 10/29 Tess AMPS~153 PMPS~150 +2~65

Ann...thank you so much...holy cow did you ever do an amazing job!!! And you are so busy right now!

Just wanted to be sure I understand: you called Wellness and they told you that the % moisture in as fed for Core Chicken/turkey/liver was 72.2%? Just checking....it ended up having alot more % carbs than I thought...Oh...and how did you get -carbs numbers? I couldn't figure out how a food can have minus carbs?

Thanks, Ann...you are terrific.

Re: 10/29 Tess AMPS~153 PMPS~150 +2~65

Hey Ann, Very interesting work you are doing on the foods. I downloaded the Exel spreadsheet, but it doesn't work on my MacBook (running OS X, version 10.6.4--Snow Leopard). I got mostly long lines of stuff that looks like code, punctuated by text, but nothing that could be easily read or comprehended or even lined up in columns. Oh well!! It looks massive and impressive, that's for sure!

Seems like Tess might keep you up tonight and that there might be some PJ parties in LL.

Hey Tess, It's great that the KTS will visit Buzz in the hospital tonight. She'll love that chicken soup!

Re: 10/29 Tess AMPS~153 PMPS~150 +2~65 +3~75

Looks like Kawabunga Kitty is setting up to surf.

Ella, Yeah!!!!!!! MacHeads Rule!!!!!!! I actually did it in iWork - Numbers if you want a copy in that. I figured most people would have Excel

Marjorie, some of the numbers that I got are off, the protein, fat, ash fiber, and moisture added up to more than 100%. That's what caused the negative carbs. It's a work in progress I need to recontact the companies to see what is incorrect.
