Happy Sunday, everyone! :D:coffee::cat:

I've been thinking, re: Chispa and her FD -- I do exactly the same things at approximately the same time, day after day after day -- so wouldn't you think the numbers would be a little less variable? My own diet and activities vary so much from day to day, while her life is a haven of stability ... yet I can never repeat the good results like this morning's green PS because I never know why it happened.

I'm sure I am not the first person to have this thought.:p

May all cats and their people surf safely today :bighug::bighug::bighug:

The question makes sense but there's an awful lot that goes on with our cats that they don't tell us about! We may hold most variables constant but how much they play, stress related issues, etc. are not necessarily something we know about. The other issue is that insulin is a hormone. It may not be utilized in exactly the same way at every shot. In addition, looking at Chispa's numbers, there's a decent chance her pancreas may have a bit of life in it. So on days when numbers are lower, it may be that her pancreas is producing more endogenous insulin. If the info in your signature is correct, the same may be true of the prednisolone which is also a hormone. The pred may also cause a rise in blood glucose levels.

So correct! Some of the answers were put in a Sticky Note: What is the Insulin Depot? I see a partial fur shot on the SS a couple nights ago. Plus there is the cat factor.
Hi Wendy - Thanks for the reminder of the depot sticky, which I just went back and reread. You’re right about the PFS, and it’s part of the reason I’m surprised at the green preshot. I haven’t seen one of those in a LONG time.
Honestly, I think the smart money is on the cat factor. :cat:;)

Thanks, Sienne - It makes me happy to hear this. She is a tough little cookie. I am not giving up on getting her into remission!

Ah, right - there is that. I tried a couple of months ago to gradually wean her off of it, but at a certain point she started overgrooming and having digestive issues again. So we can’t do anything about that.

Karen,
I wonder about that ALL THE TIME!
I bet Chispa and Mikan wonder about that too :cat: but they are not the creatures of dwelling
So we ended up thinking, turning it over in our head, and spinning our wheels for nothing

Hope Chispa continues to do well and gives you peace of mind :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Kit! Wouldn't it be great if we could be more like our cats and stop spinning our mental wheels? Even just sometimes???

This gives me an idea for a business venture: the Lantus-Levemir Discussion Group and Day Spa. There would be sauna rooms, hot stone treatments, a manicure station, free yoga classes, and a smoothie bar that also served cupcakes, because you know, that might help too. The cats could socialize in the adjacent daycare center. What do you think???

If you ever have some spare time, search this forum for the KTSS (kitties of the travelling soup and spa). It was a band of kitties who would travel to the places of kitties who weren't feeling well, and provide good home made chicken broth and the spoiling they needed to get better.

OOOOO, I found it!! For anyone else who's reading, here's a link to a very good explanation of the KTSS and their noble mission:

I think we need to revive this tradition. Chispa is warm, fuzzy, and weighs 14+ pounds; therefore she is practically a hot water bottle in feline form. She doesn't know how to make soup, but she does know how to make biscuits, which some would say is the next best thing.

Anyone else ready to volunteer for this mission???

I'll sign up immediately!
The last time I had any spa thing done was before the pandemic - my goodness, how can this be!

And this KTSS! Just love this! Mikan will totally join! She can show how to play on the trampoline! Wait! NO! That's not allowed!
Not sure if she can make soup but maybe she can learn! She is very good at giving stepping massage! Great kneader!
