Antihistamines never seemed to do anything for her....still struggling to breathe. Somewhat encouraged by a lower BG this morning, but she is still running a temperature. She followed me out of the bedroom after my shower to use the LB and then accepted a drink from the faucet. First time for either in 2 days. Syringed her first dose of Lysine into her last night...and again this morning.

Vet gave her another shot of Baytril & a short acting steroid that should be out of her system by Monday. Steroids were kind of our last resort - but this is day 5 of not eating on her own & not being able to give insulin as a result. Worried about what they will do to her BG and being so stable on such a low dose of insulin before this all hit...but got to get her eating and feeling better.

Hoping the steroid does the trick in helping her feel better and stimulating her appetite. Vet thought she would quite possibly start feeling better by tonight with it and eat for me. I am calling tomorrow morning to update...Vet is closed on Saturday & Sunday and she will be out of town but told me that if need be she can tell a tech what needs done so that we aren't going through the weekend declining if that is the case.

Re: 10/28 Kazi AMBG:149

Hi guys .. well I was really hoping to read that kazi was feeling lots better today .. I know steroids were your last resort but you can't have your baby not eating .. You can work around the steroids it will just be harder for awhile .. hang in there, she's bound to get better soon .. have a great weekend!

Her breathing still sounds horrible - but she is brighter tonight. Mom was able to coax her to eat a little under half a can or so of food with some effort, she got a big drink from the sink...and was waiting for me to get home from work at the door. I was unable to get her to eat anything else, but I did get her Lysine in her by smearing baby food mixed with it on her chin. Hoping a good nights sleep will have her continuing to improve.

prayers, white light, and healing vines coming to Kazi in waves...

and hugs to you, amanda...

Hope she feels better soon and is eating. Steroids can cause BGs problems, but if its what is needed to get her feeling good then its what is needed and we adjust.

Amanda, I am sorry that Kazi has been so sick this week. Poor baby and poor you. That's great that your mom got her to eat a bit and she is drinking. Sending tons of healing energy to you both and to your mom.

Hi Amanda,
So sorry to learn that Kazi isn't feeling well. We hope that the steroid will help and that she will improve over the weekend. Sending lots and lots of healing vines and prayers for your girl.

Amanda:

My vet once suggested that when one of my cats was congested, that I lock her in the bathroom with me when I showered. If your bathroom gets steamy, the steam and warmth may help to break some of the congestion loose. If it seems to help, you might want to repeat this a couple of time a day.

Hi Amanda: I used a baby vaporizer and locked the kitty in the bathroom with the vaporizer. Another thing, get a bucket of hot steamy water and sit her on your lap (I used the bathroom) and put a towel over the bucket and over the kittie on my lap. It helped. Sending healing vines and snowflakes for Kazi.

(((AManda and Kazi))): Sending Kazi tons of super strength healing vines. We hope she'll be able to breathe soon, smell her food, and eat.

I think her BGs look great for all she's been through!!

Just thinking of you and sending healing vines your way. I agree, she's doing great with her BG under the circumstances. I hope that's a positive sign. Hugs to you.

Sending well wishes also. How much Lysine are you giving? I was sent an article by a friend about cats with flareups needing 500mg TWICE a day. I shared the info with Susan and Lanky who were visiting the ER with congestion and he started getting better in a few days. Most vets only recommend 500mg which most likely isn't enough.
