Once I started I couldn’t dose without calipers. It really threw me off if I needed a battery at shot time.

Oh extra battery is a good call...I should check to make sure I have one. They definitely add a few minutes to shot time but worth it. And I don't usually turn them on at shot time...is that bad practice? I do turn them on every so often to make sure the locking knob hasn't budged...so far it never has.
