Regs started at 250 this morning, with a +1 of 246 and no food bump. His +2 dropped to 194, and honestly, I’m terrified. I know these are good numbers, but I had no choice but to leave for work, which makes me incredibly anxious.

I gave him some extra LC food, his feeder is set for a snack at +3, and I’ll try to rush home around +4 to test him.

I’m still so scared of these 3 units, especially knowing what a difference just 0.25 units can make. Please keep your fingers and paws crossed that my sweet boy will be okay while I’m at work! ❤️

He's so adorable and obviously starving!
Glad he surfed safely. Let's get his pancreas used to some nice blues! A very nice 162 today! 🌊 🏄‍♂️🩵

Thanks so much, Staci! I mean, how can he not be starving when he only gets five meals a day? Although his growing belly is starting to tell a different story!

With that drop at +2, I suspect he might have gone lower than 160, but of course I can't know for sure. He seemed to be feeling great, though, while I was the nervous wreck at work who couldn't focus on anything until I knew he was okay! I'm actually thinking about trying a FreeStyle Libre again. Maybe I could set it up with an old phone and find a way to monitor his glucose remotely while I'm at work. That would definitely give me peace of mind!

I just hope he doesn't start pulling these drops on me every day, or I'll have to quit my job and become a full-time cat mom 😂

He’s just so precious! You’re doing such a great job with his complicated care 💝

You can use an old phone with the Libre, just check their website for compatibility.
I use an older iPhone 12 mini model that works great.
Think I paid around $100 or so on eBay for the phone.
If you have a phone at home, that’s even better!
You will get more comfortable over time and hopefully his curves will be gentle and you won’t have to worry so much.
Ivy is a massive bouncer normally, so it’s harder.
But many cats have very calm cycles (like Nestle).
I hope Regs is one of those cool cats 🐈💕🌊🏄‍♂️

The LibreLinkUp app works great for monitoring remotely. Both myself and Shelly's other person use it and we even have Shelly's cat sitters hooked up to it so they can monitor her numbers while they care for her when we are out of town. We use one of our old iPhones for as her phone.

Thanks I need to look into that. I have an old phone I could leave here, but that would give me so much peace

Thank you so much, Staci! ❤️ I really try my best to give him the life he deserves, but I'm sure it's the same for all of us. It definitely takes its toll sometimes, the lack of sleep, constant overthinking, and struggling to focus on anything else.

I'll definitely look into the Libre again! I actually have an old iPhone 8 somewhere, and according to the Libre website, it should still be compatible. I just need to find it!

I'd absolutely love for him to have gentle curves, especially with his heart condition, but I'd already be happy with less bouncing! So far, despite the many little heart attacks he's given me, I really like the numbers we're seeing on 3 units. I'm curious when the depot will be fully adjusted and whether those early drops might become his new pattern. I guess only time will tell!

I just know I can't keep coming home twice during every workday, so I'll have to learn to trust his numbers and patterns a little more. Hopefully I'll get there

And with everything you're going through with Ivy right now, I really appreciate you still taking the time to encourage me. I hope your sweet girl continues to improve and feels much better soon!

Listen, I know how nerve racking it is to leave them when you go to work🙋‍♀️last year Jude was having some lower numbers and I snuck him into the office. I’m 30miles from work!!! I had to stop doing it because he HATES the car, and would pee/poop on the way and then stopped eating at the office. What I do now is leave either MC or HC food if he has a lower+2. For Jude, I know that food bump will get him past his nadir, which is typically at +3 or +4. And, yes, it could cause a bounce, but safety is first, and I’d rather have a bounce than a hypo episode. Of course I don’t really know what’s happening even when I leave the mc/hc, but I’m pretty knowledgeable about his cycles at this point so I have a good guess.

You took Jude to work?! That’s awesome ❤️ Too bad he wasn’t a fan of the car ride. I’d love to take Regs to work, but I only have a cubicle, and I’m sure he’d try to explore the entire office and say hi to everyone! Even my boss loved the idea when I jokingly told her I could make him my emotional support animal. Honestly, I don’t think anyone would mind, except maybe our Health & Safety lady! 😂

Luckily, my drive is only about 10 minutes. Yesterday I came home around 11:15 and was back at work less than 30 minutes later, so it’s manageable.

Regs had an AMPS of only 200 this morning, low enough to make me a little nervous again! But his +1 was 264, so hopefully today won’t be another day of those big early drops.

I think I’ll make the +3 snack a regular thing on mornings when his numbers are dropping quickly. Yesterday it took him a moment to figure out that the feeder flap had opened, but once he realized there was food waiting for him, he was one happy kitty!
