Yesterday's appy tank.

Much better appy today. She ate half of her AM calories within an hour of shot time. :) Then I had to rip her out of her bed and load her in the carrier for vetty. She is currently at the specialist vet clinic. I had set up the appointment to do b/w, a quick peek by the cardio vetty and a consult with the IM vet. When I got there, it was set up as a part day stay and b/w. WTH? :banghead::banghead: She doesn't need to stay for b/w and the IM vet had told me the cardio vet said he'd do a quick look at her (for free) to make sure she isn't retaining fluids from us starting fluids back. So since the cardio vetty part hadn't been set up properly, Neko might have to wait at vetty until as late as 3PM which is the next open cardio slot. And there was no consult with the IM vet booked. :banghead::banghead: And so much for getting more food into her or getting her back in time for her AM heart meds.

Oh, for God's sake. Did they never read, "First, do no harm" ? It's not at all good for poor Neko to be hangin' at the vet, missing his heart meds, and refusing to eat because the experience is freaking him out!
Not to mention your budget. Can you maybe explain that since you did not order it, pay for the b/w should not be forthcoming. It seems only fair.

How frustrating. I hope Neko doesn't have to stay very long at he vet and she'll continue to eat once she gets home. :bighug::bighug:

I would have simply taken Neko home and rescheduled. I hope Neko is OK and that this evening will be a better time for all of you. You sure didn't need this day's events!

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

I agree with what Karen isn't writing but is thinking...... sheesh!....
Hope the rest of the afternoon went better and that the trip ended up being worth the frustrating circumstances..

Never ask "what more could go wrong". :banghead: The above was the tip of the iceberg. More later. We got home late - PMPS will be food influenced. Speaking of which, time for TFS.

On the good news side, I got the OK on proceeding with fluids, which I just completed.

Glad she is home with you now- and so glad to hear about the fluids!

We left the vetty at 5:00 pm. Pickup time was at 4, traffic was horrible and there was an extra $300+ charge on the bill. Needless to say, I waited to get that sorted out first. She got just one dose of Vetmedin today. They are to be given at least 8 hours apart so it's going to be two late for two doses today. Neko is down to 12 lbs, down one pound in two months. :( Skipping mid day food like today does not help. There was more but you get the picture.:banghead::banghead:

I didn't reschedule because I had already gotten home when I found out about the first delay, and it's very hard to find cardio vetty time. There is exactly one here. And the IM vet was very nervous about restarting fluids and didn't even want me to wait as long as I did for the recheck. But it's what was available. Being able to continue fluids means that so far it isn't damaging her heart. Her respiration rate has been stable when I checked at home. I will hear more tomorrow from the IM vet, probably late afternoon.
