Hello lovely LL,

Our last condo is here.

Angie had a difficult day yesterday - she tried very hard to give me some prezzies and ended up giving me kitchen floor vomits, bedroom floor vomits and then on the bed diarrhoea drips when she came to tell me that she didn't feel well. Proper prezzies came not long after and she felt much better but more vomits today. Lotsa cleaning up...

She's also started shivering when I pick her up to test and looks at me with big frightened eyes when I pat her. It's breaking my heart and yesteday I got a bit soft and let her off. Bad Grace! Her pmps could have been a bounce - who knows what she was up to yesterday. I'm not even sure if she got any insulin last night as it was a very wet fur shot.

I wish I could help her more. The vet thinks that she's getting old - she seems to have something but tests don't show it up. She turns 18 next month. I've never had an old cat before so I don't know how much "just getting old" is unavoidable and what I should actually have investigated further.

Thanks to Wendy, Marylin and Carla for the visit and the vines. I still haven't been visiting condos - just conserving energy. Lots of vines and hugs to those tha tneed them.

Re: 10/26 Angie pmps=95

I'm sorry yesterday was such a rough day. It sounds like Angie might have been constipated. Do you give her anything to keep her poo normal? Or does this kind of thing happen a lot ? Some people here give Miralax to keep their kitties' poo normal. I don't know if it's sold as Miralax in Australia or how much they give. If you are interested, you could put Miralax ? in the subject line.

The experience I've had with kitties getting older is that they sleep a lot more, have days where they don't really want to eat, some can't move around as well, and some of them have gotten confused at times. It seems like they forget where they are at times, or even who I am at times. This last one has not happened with all of my cats, but I have one 18 year old right now that does that sometimes. I had one 20 year old cat who pooed right beside the lb, but not in the lb in the last little bit of his life.

Hi Carla,

Thanks for the visit.

She is sleeping more and has required steps to the bed for the last year - those things didn't concern me so much. The constipation is something that we've had troubles with since July 2013, when one of her anal glands got so impacted that it popped. I had taken her to 4 different vets because I was sure she was constipated and they all sent me home again saying she was fine. The 5th vet (our now beloved vet) checked her anal glands but too late. Poor girl. After consulting with our vet and Dr Pierson, I put psyllium in her food to soften it and to increase the diameter of her poos, to help keep her glands clear. She still has troubles occasionally and I adjust the psyllium amount to try and keep it balanced.

I'm more worried that she has an infection - she wheezes a lot and I just feel that she's not well. Her physical examination, temperature, blood pressure, urine sample and recent blood tests were good apparently. (Must get a copy of the blood work. I also worry about weakness in her legs - particularly her wrists (front ankles?). I think the vets aren't sure if I know her really well or am a hypochondriac on her behalf. To tell you the truth, I'm not entirely sure either!

Hi Grace ~O) :-D

What a nice set of numbers for Angie. I wish i could Help on the aging question. Elsa is 18 too, and had slowed down a lot, sleeps slot, eats when she feels like it, small meals throughout the day. She's lost some weight, but no apparent reason found, All her labs are good too. At least we have no health issues, so far. My BJ who lived to be 19 was much like what Carla describes with her senior. She often forgot things, or didn't know where we were. I wish I had an answer for you on the weakness of the legs. Mannie had that but it was due t a potassium deficiency, and his was more wobbly that weak. well I hope all is well with Angie.

I hope your day has been a good one.
