Hi everybody. Well she's home and is doing not too badly. I got her home a couple of hours ago and she has eaten a little for me. I know she's really glad to be home and everyone here especially the boys and Ayanna are glad to have her home too. Her sugars today haven't been bad. Her AMPS was 262 and her +5 was 124. They gave her 1.5u at the vets which is a little lower than what I've been giving but that's OK. The IV fluids helped keep her sugars down to a reasonable level.
I must say though I am some ticked off. When I picked her up I discovered that apart from the dose of Buprenex Doug gave Tori on Saturday she wasn't given anything else for pain. What the heck! Pancreatitis is one of the most painful conditions there is and if the vet who was covering for the practice didn't want to give the Buprenex he could have at least given her something. Doug wasn't here again today and I didn't see the other vet but I definitely will be talking to Doug about that tomorrow. To me this is just poor practice. Yes he gave her the fluids she needed and meds for the nausea and Mirt but no pain med - he's got to be kidding.
Anyway she's home safe and sound. I will for sure talk to Doug tomorrow and my plan for now is to give her squids tomorrow and the next day and to give her Buprenex q12h for a couple of days until she is totally back to normal. Sounds good?
Thanks so much again for all your prayers and healing vines for Tori. Please keep them coming. She's not out of the woods quite yet. We are both going to have a nap now until it's supper time. I'll post again later.
