Hi everybody. Well she's home and is doing not too badly. I got her home a couple of hours ago and she has eaten a little for me. I know she's really glad to be home and everyone here especially the boys and Ayanna are glad to have her home too. Her sugars today haven't been bad. Her AMPS was 262 and her +5 was 124. They gave her 1.5u at the vets which is a little lower than what I've been giving but that's OK. The IV fluids helped keep her sugars down to a reasonable level.

I must say though I am some ticked off. When I picked her up I discovered that apart from the dose of Buprenex Doug gave Tori on Saturday she wasn't given anything else for pain. What the heck! Pancreatitis is one of the most painful conditions there is and if the vet who was covering for the practice didn't want to give the Buprenex he could have at least given her something. Doug wasn't here again today and I didn't see the other vet but I definitely will be talking to Doug about that tomorrow. To me this is just poor practice. Yes he gave her the fluids she needed and meds for the nausea and Mirt but no pain med - he's got to be kidding.

Anyway she's home safe and sound. I will for sure talk to Doug tomorrow and my plan for now is to give her squids tomorrow and the next day and to give her Buprenex q12h for a couple of days until she is totally back to normal. Sounds good?

Thanks so much again for all your prayers and healing vines for Tori. Please keep them coming. She's not out of the woods quite yet. We are both going to have a nap now until it's supper time. I'll post again later.

Good good!! Tori is home where she belongs! Right by her mom!

I am sorry she went without pain meds, poor girl.

Lots and lots more healing vines and prayers!

Re: 10/25 Tori- She's Home!!!

I am so glad that she is home - great news! I hope you guys have a nice evening together - I ma sure she has missed you too.

and yes - talk to your vet about the pain med issue. I am a little floored - why would they not? Poor kitty!

Re: 10/25 Tori- She's Home!!!

I'm thrilled Tori is back home. No Pepsid?

Oh, and I'm hoping that the "other" vet has the wonderful experience of pancreatitis himself -- and the local pharmacies are out of whatever the most appropriate pain med might be. (Failing that, please feel free to take a hammer and smash his toe and see how well he endures pain. Geez!)

Re: 10/25 Tori- She's Home!!!

Double what Sienne said....and do the other toe from me.... grr_red

At least she is out that nightmare place....and home with her Mama...where she belongs...Please give her a big kiss from me...and one from both Raja & Shadow....
I am glad she ate a little for you...she will eat more after your nap...hugging you both across the miles...

And another thing...they can't even make that up to you ...or her...
That was downright cruel. I am in shock and I am very angry....

Continued healing vines and prayers for Tori's speedy recovery.... :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 10/25 Tori- She's Home!!!

Glad to hear your Tori is home. Can't imagine why a vet wouldn't want to ease the pain of a recovering kitty :-x I hope she continues to recover...certainly she will be much happier now that she is home!

Re: 10/25 Tori- She's Home!!!

Barb, I'm so glad that Tori is home with you, where she belongs. I don't want to make you feel worse by dwelling on the pain that she had, but my dog had pancreatitis, and I know what he went through.
It's just unconscionable, that she wasn't given pain meds.
But now she will get the loving care that she deserves. It's a good sign, that she was willing to eat a little.
Sending lots of healing prayers for Tori.

Re: 10/25 Tori- She's Home!!!

Barb...so glad Tori is home with you...I know you are relieved to have her where you can care for her instead of Mr. Torture. Any reason
why you can't give her bupe every 8 hours? We give Gus bupe daily for his arthritis and if he's having a bad day, we give q8. HEALING VINES!!

.Well we had a lovely nap together. First of all she wanted to lie in her favourite chair so I went and laid down. I'd actually fallen asleep and woke up to someone jumping up beside me. I can always tell who it is and I knew without opening my eyes that it was TOri. She crawled up onto my chest and started purring and kneading me just like she always did when she was a kitten. I started to quietly cry again like I've been doing a lot the last few months but those were very happy tears. She's such a sweet baby girl and tonight reaffirmed to me that I am doing right by her and that there is no way in heck that she is ready to give up in any way shape or form.

When we got up it was supper time. Her BG was 72 and I decided to stay with the 1.5. She ate a pretty good supper actually. She took all her meds-the Pepcid, Metacopramide and The Buprenex without any problem. I'm very lucky she is not hard to pill at all. I wish I didn't have to go to work tonight but staying home really isn't an option. Daniel will be with her and he knows what he's doing and he always can phone me at work or come onto the Board if he needs help. The only thing he won't do for her is give the Buprenex because he doesn't feel comfortable doing that. Fair enough. I'll give her some in the morning when I get home from work and will then decide if I need to give it q8h.

Thanks again so much for your support guys. It means so much. I hope you don't think I'm vet bashing. Really Tori has received excellent care at the clinic. The only one I've ever really had a problem with is the vet who took over for Doug the last two days. Anyway I will talk to Doug tomorrow.

I hope everybody has a good night. Kiss all your precious babies for me.

love that! :-D

I'm so glad she's home Barb. No matter how good their care, it's not as good as it is at home. I'm relieved for both of you and Shadow and I will keep you both in our prayers.
