Maggie, you do like those blue PS numbers!
Alicia, I may have suggested this before so forgive my lack of memory lol but have you tried giving Maggie a wee snack at +9? Sometimes it helps to lower the PS #.

No problem Judy, I know how hard it is trying to keep all the beans and kitties straight! Yes, I do give Maggie a +9 snack as the last feeding PS. It's not always "wee" but not what I would call large, maybe 1 to 1.5 tablespoons.

I'm four months in on our first vial of insulin. Need to start thinking about the next purchase. Do most of you use a pen or a vial? If you use a pen, do you purchase just one at a time? If Maggie stays on such low doses (anti-jinx) we won't need much per 6 months.

At such minuscule doses, the pen seems to be the best option for you. Even at 0.1U, the pen will contain 3,000 doses. In contrast, a vial would contain 10,000. Assuming you get 6 months out of your insulin before it starts to go bad, that's still only 360 doses. The pen would involve much less waste at much less cost compared to a vial.

You'll just need to call around to your local pharmacies and ask if they dispense the pens individually.

I really preferred the pen as well. For all the reasons that @AZJenks mentioned already! I found the pen at my local compounding pharmacy for around $120, but just before I stopped needing it one of our clients said he got one pen at Sam’s Club for $75! Some places won’t sell only one pen, but apparently some Sam’s Clubs do (if you have one where you are).

ETA: still looking like a good start to the day!! Surf safely!
