Happy Monday (is there really such a thing?)

All's well in Jetta's land today. Standard start to her day. Still eating great. Hopefully we see more blue today!!! Busy work day for the bean, so I won't be visiting condos until tonight. Have a great start to the week everyone.

Well, I can only guess today was a fur shot, but I saw no evidence that it was.
Her shaved saddle area has almost grown back, so it is hard to see, BUT the last time she was at the vet, he mentioned we needed to move to a new are so she doens't build up sores or tough skin across her shoulders. Can you tell me where I should go next? I'll need to shave a spot... And, the way we shoot is to kneel with Jetta between our knees, so I kinda need a spot that will still be accessible. I'm not sure that leaves much option... Any help is appreciated.

Hi guys .. jetta what's going on? Red is most certainly not your color so let's bring it back down .. Glad to hear jetta is eating well .. No advice from us on where to move the shot to .. we shot mocha in the same spot (because of how we had to restrain her at shot times) for almost two years .. We never noticed any sores or tough skin but every cat is different! have a great day guys!

Jetta, what's up? We don't like to see you up on that unmentionable floor, not at all. :sad: Hope tonight is better. No suggestions about where to shoot. We always shoot at the shoulders too.

We've always shot the scruff, so no advice here.

Well, thanks Liz, Devon, and Linda. If you've all stayed in the same spot, I'm inclined to also since we're all used to it.

For a long time, I would shoot left side in the morning, right side at night. The cycle would be center scruff, outer scruff, chest. But I've been experimenting lately with just shooting the chest to see if we get better absorption since supposedly that occurs. At any rate, if you can visualize a line right down the center of Jetta's spine, then try our methodology of shooting just left of that line in the morning, just right at night for the first cycle. Next cycle...move about two inches left (still scruff) in the morning and move two inches right at night.

When I shoot Gracie's chest, I just pull up the really loose skin behind her front paw, roll it back until I see skin, and then inject there. Left in morning, right at night. Gracie is so good that she never even flinches. You'll just have to see how Jetta does.

And thanks Marje! It's weird though I used to shoot in the right shoulder alternating with the left, but maybe 3-4 weeks ago, when I tried to shoot in the right, she jumps and runs away, so I've been doing the around the clock face thing just on the left for a while now. Maybe I'll try the right again and see what happens. And I definitly can't shoot without sitting on her. If we don't trap her in our knees she squirts out. She's a sly thing!

HOLY COW, JETTA!!!

eta: i shoot binks in and around his shoulder area...left side, btwn shoulders, then right side...etc
and he has that thick manx undercoat, so i shave him as well...
