hes lowering of a fashion BUT I know I need to increase per protocol but problem is ive been working from +3 pm til amps and not quite sure whats happening in between.(just to point out I came home yesterday and hed eaten a lot yet no water or wee wee so im guessing he could've gone low) I know his little body is now going to bounce from probably even yellows but I cant risk upping til im home at amps tomorrow when im off all week :-D

I hope im doing the right thing and making the right decisions.

also must point out my little guys playing lots, happy and is not hiding out at all now. even though really high peeing and drinking has halved.its so good to see his little face in my window waiting for his mamabean to come home from work(no doubt thinking ,"hey my chickens run out" ;-) ) ready for snuggles.

..............and weve got a whole week of snuggles without me leaving him for 8 hours at a time.puuuuuurfect!!

Hi Anna - I think you need to increase Bailey by .5U. Even if you weren't sure about what happened the other night, he had 6 cycles from the 19th to the 21st on that dose where you tested plenty and he wasn't coming down. I'm not sure you need to wait until you are home to monitor. I'd be worried if you had spotted some blue, but you are not. He needs more insulin. You don't want him lingering in higher numbers or you'll have to worry about glucose toxicity too. Bailey did take a steep drop last night from PMPS to +3 and that steep drop could have been what is causing today's bounce.

It's great news that Bailey is playing more and happier. That's a good sign that he's getting closer to the right dose.

One quick question, the SS shows Bailey getting 6.5U in the morning of the 18th, but then going back to 6.0U. Is that correct or a typo?

HI WENDY. :-D thanks. I dontknow if he has gone blue that's whats worried me as I opened a new insulin but will up him to 7u onight anyway. im home from amps tomorrow for a week and usually it takes a while for dose increase to work. eek! I hope hes ok while im out!

yeah typo error the other day. ive changed it back. while hes happier im happier. im thankful even for pink numbers at the mo. silly isn't it?

i agree with Wendy. He's really high - pink is not a happy color. Even when you're working a lot, you get enough tests done that we can see pretty clearly what's going on and I don't think there's any possibility he's getting even blues in on this dose. You don't have to be able to test all 24 hours to see what's going on. To follow TR you need one preshot test in each cycle (before each shot) and one midcycle test at the minimum.

Whenever a cat is high we suggest doing ketone checks at least once a day. If he's still feeling good, then he's probably ok, but i'd get some ketone checks in anyway. One of the factors that cause ketones to develop is "not enough insulin."

With the AT, your goal range is 68-160ish.

Yay for a week off! I hope you have a wonderful time snuggling with your little guy!

I regually check for ketones Julie :-D hes all good at the mo.one less thing to worry about. yeah hes still feeling ok thank goodness. ive upped his dose to 7units last night so hopefully after the new dose wonkiness he'll settle bit! I do appreciate all your advice. I don't know what id do without you guys!

edited to say, were having snuggles as we speak.you cant beat it! makes all the hard work worth while!!
