I had to set another alarm for +5 last night, I miss those +3 nadirs! Today he had another one of his signature huge drops.

I'm currently watching an egret eat lizards from my office window:

Happy Friday!

Awww handsome boys! Are they out there looking at the egret thinking “I could eat the lizards too!”

If only they could reach this window to see! At night, geckos walk on the bay window and Flare slams his body into the window trying to get to them. It's pretty jarring when you don't know its coming 😆

Have you tried a higher carb food at preshot and +1 to slow down those falls off the cliff?
He's such a stunning cat!

I've thought about it, but my concern is it would flatten everything out eliminating those greens. But then again its hard to tell if the high preshots are from bouncing or just issues he has with duration.

Thank you! Xander has always attracted everyone's attention 😍
This one stuns with his goofiness 🤣

He reminds me so much of Jude!

Updated to say...we had a teensy gecko on one of our windows, and it transfixed the cats. Hazel would throw herself at it frequently and scare us all. I'm glad it's gone now.

His belly is just so cute!! 😻😻😻

Oh, goodness. This isn’t good. What do you think is going on?

Im not sure, he peed and pooped fine. Purring when petted. He just isnt interested in food. Also he seems a little uncomfortable but that could just be from all the food offers. I got an okay amount in him and so far his glucose is flat but its just odd given how well he ate earlier today and for the past few months with no off days and suddenly tonight is the worst night of eating hes had

P-itis flare??

I always get so panicky when I give a full shot and then he unexpectedly does something like this. Especially with it being the weekend and limited vet support if needed

Sending all the vines to precious Xander 🍃 🍃🍃🍃🍃 What do you do when it flares?
Hes only his daily ondan/gaba/mirtazapine to keep things steady. Never really had any big setbacks since starting on the meds. Ill see how tomorrow morning is and call thr vet to see if I should increase any of the meds I guess.

Ill be sure to see how he eats before shooting tomorrow. Hopefully tonights just an unfortunate blip

His numbers are good, though. RIght?? He’s in the yellows.
We have limited vet support on weekends here too.
Yep! So far it looks like we're safe with his glucose its flat at +2. Some of the food he got was gravy too so thats helping.

Just now he ate his biggest meal of the night, which still isnt great and requiring topper. But looks like the meds are finally having more of their usual effect now

Do you have buprenorphine for pain management? I wonder if that could help him eat if it’s pain or discomfort from a flare up?

I dont, he takes twice daily gaba for pain though and since starting it, its really helped his appetite enormously. Maybe an increase could be something to consider if he continues to have issues. He somehow managed to slowly get to only being 20g short so not too bad.

Just scared about how tomorrow morning will go

It might be something to consider in the future - Jo might have a view on it. We’ve found it really effective for pain relief on days where we really needed it.

Yeah i've heard it recommended a lot. Months ago the vet seemed reluctant when I mentioned it and we ended up going with the gabapentin. I could revisit that if he continues to have issues. I'm just hoping its a single rocky night

I hope so too! I bet it’s because it’s technically an opioid and therefore a controlled substance, which has always been so crazy to me because the amounts for a cat are so tiny. We’re not able to get gabapentin mailed to our home for the same reason…
