Toby's bg is always higher in the morning but we will push through this. He jumped in bed just a purring this morning. So that's a good sign. Still waiting for my insulin from Canada. It was supposed to get here today or tomorrow. Looked up tracking
and says it's still in US customs. It was sent out the 16th so don't know when it will get here. Hope it will still be good when it gets here. Well healing vines to those that need them will be thinking of you, Peg and Toby

Re: 10/23 Toby's AMS=442 +7=367 PMS=409

Will go up to 11 units on Toby tonight and keep my fingers crossed. Instead of going down today he went up. Guess he doesn't know which way to go. Started a new pen of levemir this morning. Have a good evening, Peg and Toby

Re: 10/23 Toby's PMS=409 +3=332

was today's new pen different from the pens coming from Canada?

Hoping they sent the insulin protected so it will stay cold in transit. Does the pharmacy say how it will be sent?

Glad to hear your sweet Toby was all purring and jumping up this morning. it's a great sign! :-D

Re: 10/23 Toby's PMS=409 +3=332 +6=130

The Pen that I'm using now is a new on from Wal-Mart. The pharmacy that I got the others from is the one Chris and China order from.
They assured me that it would be packed in ice . It says on the TV that it can be out of the fridge for 48 days before it's no good. It's coming from BC Canada out where Wendy lives. Quite a ways from Maine. We are only a couple hours from Canada.
Going to try to find a pharmacy closer to Maine next time. Hey, it may be pouring out side but we are seeing blue again. Will try and get another test at +8. if I can wake up again. Peg and Toby

We are seeing green just a little more and we can have a reduction. I hope Toby's liver is kind to us and doesn't bounce too much. Will try and get more tests. Peg and Toby

wowser! I SEE GREEN!

I wonder if you've had good insulin before today. Getting to green with the first day of a new pen might suggest that the last pen might not have been effective still.

The Lantus.com site says that the pen is good for 28 days at room temperature. At a higher dose you're going to go through it faster than others and might get through it in a month. At 10u per shot, that would be 30 shots per pen (30x10u = 300u) or 2 weeks.

I'd get another test in 30-45 minutes. good thing you were able to wake up - i know how hard that can be!

I'm headed to bed myself, although i fell asleep on the sofa here the past couple of hours, but just wanted to say that if he doesn't go below 50, I'd keep this dose in the morning, unless you think you need to drop it back. that was a pretty dramatic response today and if you think the last pen might have been bad, you might want to be cautious with your morning shot.

My last pen went just 28 days and it was in the fridge. Maybe this new one is stronger or maybe the dose increase? I am still up
will get another test. When I took the last test gave him something to eat so maybe he will be coming up. Well it's been 30 min.
will test again. Peg and Toby

Re: 10/23 Toby's PMS=409 +3=332 +6=130 =8=72 +8.5=96

Started new pen 10/23 in the morning. I feed Toby when I got the 72 reading was I suppose to or was I suppose Wait until I took another reading? Usually I feed him after I test. I fed him at 12:00 am and at 2:00 am will not feed again until am shot. The 96
may be higher because I fed him. Do you think this is why I'm not getting lower numbers? I feed him small meals at a time.

Peg -

It depends on what +time those meals are. Generally, you don't want to feed after nadir since there's less insulin available to help offset the effect of food. However, a lot depends on whether a cat's pancreas is working, whether you're losing Lantus or Lev, your particular cat's metabolism, how you feed (meals vs grazing), etc. A big factor may also be if you're feeding because you want to slow down a drop in numbers.

Nice change in the numbers for the PM cycle. It looks like you'll be fine to shoot in the AM. You may need to keep an eye on Toby's numbers especially if this is a break in the numbers.
