Good morning and hoping all good in LL for kitties, civvies and beans.

I'm in brain fog zone but full of gratitude that we've made it to Sunday morning.

Didn't condo yesterday. Everything caught up with me. But been keeping Sootie's SS up to date. My hunch is that Sootie was happy enough to have done 2 tests for a change of pace (instead of 3 or 4 on average). Yesterday her morning Ambg was 142  and 110/+11 . This morning...eek..166/ambg (probably shoulda retested but she was eyeing the breakfast fud) and 86/+4 :D. I was about an hour late again this morning getting upstairs. And she let me know it!

Azalea's injured eye about the same but not worse, that's :). She's taking her time this morning about fud. was no go for radcat last night, opting for slurry, that she finally did finish. And she is a little better about the second eye drop application (Optimend). I bring her in tomorrow morning for another recheck.

Bo with us and hanging in, in all of his Bo-ness fortitude. D...d paralysis. He is eating, p&p'ing, alert, conversational. If it weren't for the paralysis, he'd be considered to be B.A.R. I know that vet will urge strongly to pts soon. I don't look forward to that discussion. I know that in this most recent of Bo's challenges, Bo's quality of life, via most assessments, is realistically in question. But for Bo, he gives every indication that he is content, is ok with his limitations and the additional care involved. He is very clear that he is not ready to make that leap, on his own or with assistance. He is one amazing fella. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

hugs and vines to you and your fighter!

Sending more prayers for you and your furbabies. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
❤️❤️❤️ :bighug::bighug::bighug:
Much appreciated and sure needed!

Tonight was my turn for 'stupid human tricks:' I stumbled and fell bringing supper dishes upstairs to Sootie, Bella and Azalea. My ruckus startled the heck out of them all. Alas, a few minutes after I'd righted and composed myself, Sootie's +11 was 178, retest 184. Let's go with the 174? I hope much of that was temporary stress about this mama bean's adventure in clumsiness.

Then, when back downstairs, I banged my head on the dryer door that was swaying back into place while I was getting up from picking up stuff from the floor... Sweet Bo, with all that he's going through, got me out of that yowch and the stinging on my noggin with a lovely Maine coon call of sympathy! ❤️

Thanks again to all...may tonight and every tomorrow be gentle and peaceful for all. ❤️

Yikes what a day for you!

I have missed Sootie updates for a bit and went back and read through a couple of weeks from the beginning of October. You'd tagged me in there but I never got the tag - I'm so sorry. Wouldn't have ignored you. I didn't read every single post for the past week though, so hopefully I'm not repeating info here.

Saw the diagnosis of IBD and the links that Wendy and Marje gave you. I also wanted to pass along one from the IBD kitties site that Wendy posted: http://www.ibdkitties.net/probiotics/ Wendy posted it earlier for someone else and I saw it and took note. My civvie, McGee, a beautiful tuxedo short hair boy, has been vomiting daily for quite some time, like a year, maybe more. I wasn't sure who was doing it because I never saw the deed, but eventually determined it had to be him. I have 3 cats so it's hard to tell what output is from which kitter sometimes. ;) Anyway, I saw that link and the comments that short-haired cats shouldn't be having hairballs more than every couple of months. Got some Renew Ultimate Colon Care probiotics (80,000 cfu) at the local Natural Grocers and started slowly giving him a little from the capsule once a day, then twice a day, slowly working up to one capsule every day. Gave him that for two months, then reduced to the one capsule every other day. The vomiting stopped almost immediately. It's been about 3-4 months now without more vomiting. I'm thrilled.

He also tends towards constipation, which would fit with a diagnosis of slow motility. I give him the tiniest sprinkle of ground flax seed (people product from the grocery store) on his food in the morning and that's enough to fix that problem.

Don't know if that would help Sootie but thought I'd at least pass it along in case you want to try it.

Last thought: the smallest insulin dose is to take your syringe, push the plunger in as hard as you can, insert the needle into the insulin. Release the plunger and it will suction up a tiny drop into your syringe. Sootie's numbers are high enough to suggest she still needs insulin. This tiny dose might work for you.

Hope you're not in pain tomorrow from all of the whacks today!

Hi Julie,
Great to hear from you and thank you!
Alas the tagging mystique still muddles me a bit anyway. Hope the techy gizmo folks can resolve it for everyone's peace of mind.
I'm never quite sure when or when not to tag and whether the tag gremlins are in full bore or on to other pesky distractions. Computer technology savvyness definitely not one of my priorities or fortes!

Thank you sharing about your civvie McGee, the probiotic supplements and the conundrums of identifying who did what in a multi cat household. Six here so know how that goes!

Yes, have tried different kinds of probiotics over the years; but for awhile have been adding the standard process lact-enz in conjunction with the enteric support tabs and other glandular support depending on the individual support needs of each cat.

My one concern with the lact-enz is that it does include maltodextrin (and could that be what acts as appetite stimulant when I sprinkle it on top instead of mixing in with slurry?!). Homeopathic vet has said the the maltodextrin is so minute and synergistic with the other ingredients that I shouldn't worry about it increasing glucose levels. I'm on the fence about that and yes looking into alternatives. Marje suggested one and the one you use sounds like would be a good fit too.

And yes, tried flax powder in the past..great stuff...unfortunately even the most sparing amount produced vary degrees of 'super fast motility' in the feline household...mostly the trots! Maybe it was the batch, but I set aside for awhile. Under the present circumstances makes sense to resume it in tiny amounts. I'd been looking into ground chia seeds. Have you tried that?

Alas, with Azalea's eye injury and Bo's paralysis last week, sweet Sootie and the others have more than patient and supportive (well, unless I'm an hour or so late with morning routines!).

I'm grateful that Sootie's bg's have been mostly blue (with a green here and there), and her iffy appy has periods of gusto. but I do see fluctuations that indicate what you suggest -resume droplet dosing. I also see (unless I am not seeing the forest for the trees) that, (without dosing or maybe depot?) her bg 'normal' ranges are more even if she eats more and if she has mini meals three maybe 4 times a day spaced out during 24 hour period.. Also, during past couple of days I hadn't dosed the homeopathic pain remedy (ran out with more on the way) In hindsight, I wonder if that played at least some part in alleviating some IBD discomfort resulting in slowly improving appy and fewer episodes of pain-influenced glucose while on the arnica? :) Sina
