Ok, Oliver...time to bring it down nice-n-easy....

Curling up with the kitties sounds awesome - I hope you're able to do that today!

Re: 10/23 Oliver Twist AMPS 348; 3.5=241 ketone question

i'm wondering about ketostix. Ollie was at medium on the ketostix when he was diagnosed with diabetes the end of Sept. He was throwing up and coughing. Our vet didn't seem to be concerned. She gave him a cortisone shot for his cough and we took him home.
He has since gotten to be negative on the ketostix and matched the negative color (sort of a creamy yellow) on the container perfectly. His first pee this morning, his color looked like it was dirty (sort of grey) instead of that sort of creamy yellow... both mark and i couldn't make it match any color on the container.. we used 3 different strips.
he just visited the LB again and i caught his little stream.. seems to be that creamy yellow again.
Poor little guy he looks at me with eyes that ask if a guy could please have a little privacy in the biffy.

Has anyone else run into this sort of grey color?
thanks
mary

Check the date on the container. The strips really shouldn't be used past their expiration date. Also, if for some reason your hands were damp, you may have contaminated the paper end of the strip. As long as you got a second test that looks good, I wouldn't be worried.
