Good morning every one. I am completely amazed that Calistica is already blue. I never expected to hit the blues so soon. I pray we continue to make good progress.
To recap 10/22's results: AMPS 249, PMPS 166, PM+1  192 and PM +2  177
Have a great Sunday everyone!

Re: 10/23 Calistica's AMPS 170 - Curve day

Morning and that's a great blue to start off a Sunday! Good luck with the curve, and I'll be watching your condo.

Re: 10/23 Calistica's AMPS 170 - Curve day

Good luck with the curve today! You are doing an amazing job and Calistica is in the blues already....great team!

Re: 10/23 Calistica's AMPS 170 - Curve day

Great start to the day with a nice blue number. Hope the curve goes well today. Sorry, I can't answer your question about the plotting of numbers. I know just enough technology to put Simon's numbers on his spreadsheet. Anything else, and I am a total failure.

Have a great day!

Re: 10/23 Calistica's AMPS 170 - Curve day

Actually the curve itself with the numbers in your SS will give you a good idea of how it is going-
And from here considering you are a newbie--It Is Going Quite Well :thumbup
Her numbers look very good so far..The curve will show you the nadir, when she starts to go up & come down. Just keep doing what you are doing! Good job so far! Have a good Sunday

Re: 10/23 Calistica's AMPS 170 - Curve day

Thanks so much Roni, Georgia and Patsy
Calistica's +4 was 96! I even wondered if Ray did it right but I'm going to trust it is correct cause he ran upstairs with the meter in hand so I could see the reading!

I found this spreadsheet for a curve chart and I'm filling out for Calistica

When I'm done with the curve at the end of the day I'll upload it so you guys can see it.
Thanks again!!!

Wow, that's some very nice action this cycle! Go Callistica! You could use the green smiley icon for your condo. have a great day.

Re: 10/23 Calistica's AMPS 170 - Curve day

The numbers so far today look lovely!! You don't need to download a separate program. You can copy your numbers into an Excel document if you really want to see a "curve." In part, the color coding on your SS does that

You can edit your subject line to display your test results from today. Actually, it's very helpful to do that since it's a way to tell if you need any help or if congratulations are in order. (The former is especially important for those of us who routinely scan the board to make sure all is how is should be.)

To edit your subject line, go to your first post. Click on the "edit" button above the text box. Make the necessary changes to your subject line. Then click on the "submit" button below the text box.

Re: 10/23 Calistica -AMPS 170,+2 179,+4 96,+6 93, +8 113

Thanks so much Siene! I realize the colors on the spreadsheet show the curve but I wanted to do a graph for the vet. I have to fax the results tomorrow morning and the colors won't show.
I changed the subject line so I hope others give me their feedback since this so new to me and I'm not sure if this is where we need to be

Awesome numbers, Thelma and Calistica!!!! You go, girl!!! :RAHCAT

Re: 10/23 Calistica-PMPS 336 I think the insulin went on her

What a big jump! I had Ray give her the injection but I found a little bit of wet fur at the shot site. I think it went on her fur but not sure.
We will continue to check her BG at PM +1 and +2. I hope the value goes down!

What do I do if by +2 her BG is not better?

Re: 10/23 Calistica-PMPS 336 I think the insulin went on her

It's great to see Calistica get to greens. An added bonus of doing a curve is that we see some numbers we might otherwise have missed.

This is a bounce form her liver "panicking" from the unfamiliar low numbers. If you gave a partial fur shot there isn't much to do, but grit you teeth and wait it out. :YMSIGH: Never give additional insulin between shots w/ Lantus. There are some other insulins you can do that , but not lantus. The preshot would not have been influenced by it in any case. However, sometime excess insulin you have squeezed out can still be on the syringe and get on the fur. Don't panic even if it was a fur shot, it happens.

Re: 10/23 Calistica-PMPS 336 I think the insulin went on her

Wow, what a great cycle today! That was beautiful. My understanding is that if you have a "fur shot" where only some or none of the insulin makes it into the kitty, you chalk it up to experience and do not give any more insulin. You don't know how much got injected (could have been all of it and the wet fur is due to a little insulin on the needle or could have been none) so the safe thing to do is NOT shoot any more this time.

Having seen Zener do this a LOT, the PMPS looks like a bounce to me. Apparently the liver reacts to the normal-but-lower-than-it-is-used-to BG, and causes the BG to jump way up. Someone with a medical background will be able to give you a better explanation. The bottom line is that you just have to wait for things to calm down. Like wait up to 6 cycles = 3 days. Boy howdy, that is hard! We've done it a lot. There isn't much else to do. Just wait for the bounce to clear. Besides, like Melissa told us, this is just one number among many. The main thing is Callista is doing great and her BG is getting lower. You are doing a super job!

Re: 10/23 Calistica-PMPS 336 I think the insulin went on her

Thanks so much Ann and Liz. I knew not to give her more. I just didn't know if I should give her some later on tonight!
Good to know that the jump was a normal thing!
I will be faxing the curve results to the vet tomorrow. I can't wait to hear what he has to say!
I'm so glad everyone thinks we had a great cycle today. Wait 3 days! OUCH! That is a long time to wait.
Calistica is definitely doing well. We can tell she feels better.

Thank you all for all your advice and support!
