I just talked to "Crave" 22% carbs on the canned food ! That stuff is way too high. Maybe save it in your Hypo kit for Emergencies.

I bet Bailey's bg comes down if you stay with Low carb Canned food.:) ( some kitties have gone into remission when high carb food was stopped)

confusing info about Crave carbs!

I'm still looking at SS trying to learn more. Why does it show you were feeding FF when his reading is High?

22% carbs?! I called them and was told 7% carbs! I am so upset now, but it makes so much sense. We just couldn't figure out why she seemed to bounce so high whenever we gave Crave, but they said 7% so we figured it was something else we were doing. That's when we decided on the experiment. I need to not panic when she starts to get close to 50, though. I gave her just a tiny but of Crave gravy last night, and it has completely messed her up.
I'm going to call them again and complain. I know the name of the person I spoke to, and I can find the date by going back through Bailey's condo.

We are trying to feed her FF low carb foods when she is high. Is that the wrong approach? I hate to think we have been messing her up all this time.
Maybe we should be giving her canned chicken when she goes high like this?

Ff classics are low carb, yes feed fancy feast

I am being told the as-fed carb content is 1.86%. They are calculating the dry matter is 7%
I called this morning & talked with a woman for some time I told her about the Diabetes needing low carb She told me their canned cat food was 22% ! I wonder why your info is different?
Are you feeding any dry food?

no, only wet food. The guy right now says canned pate 7%, cuts in gravy 11%.
So, when I was trying to steer her, I was under the impression I was giving her 7% pate food.

He says the only 22% carb food is the dry food, and maybe there was a miscommunication this morning?

You were writing the feeding on the right in the Remarks column for a while So when you started writing it above it made me wonder if you thought you "Needed" to feed when bg was high.
It's probably better to continue to write in the Remarks column like you had been doing Keep it consistent so anyone checking the SS knows the food remarks are always on the right.:cat:
Does that sound like a good idea?:)

It's a bit confusing seeing the BG & the food in the same cell o_O

Yeah, I realize I hop around a lot trying to find a method that works for me, but then it makes it hard for someone checking my SS. I will use the remarks column from now on.

I thought so, I'd stop the crave and just do the ff classics
That's what we are trying to do now. She gets FF pate, and it looked like anything containing liver or turkey were the lowest carbs so that's what we try to buy. She is a pretty good eater and doesn't mind repetition.
We thought there was a pattern of a huge bounce every time we gave her Crave so we started limiting it to when she was approaching 50. Problem is whether I trust this company to tell the truth. If I am told 7% and someone else is told 22%, I don't know what I am doing in a hypo event. I don't want to jump to 22% carb when she is at 53 when I was just trying to give 7% just to help her steer.

Thank you everyone for your help with this. I'm heading out to buy some more FF classics and to build a better hypo kit.
Thanks to @Sue and Luci for the perfect timing of the hypo kit photos

miscommunication this morning?
Yes that does sound like what happened. I did ask about the canned food but she must have made a mistake! 22% did sound way high for canned food!
Does that seem like a good format to follow?
Yes all the food info in the remarks column so the cells are nice & clear with just the bg . This makes it easier to check bg (especially late at night when everyone's half asleep

Keep up the good work & Have a GREAT day! :D Baby steps........... it will get easier. HONEST!:bighug:
